SDK/Community Mapping Contest/ DLC

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 1:24 pm

just doing some hopeful thinking that sometime after launch Splash Damage releases mod tools. Then maybe they could have mapping contests, best community maps become official free DLC.. What a great way to get people more involved in Brink and ensure that the game has more life span, not saying it wont with stock stuff ;) Plus community maps would be freely made by people because they love Brink, community created DLC would cost Splash Damage much less than if they made it all themselves....

I'm a level designer and 3d modeler and cant wait for Brink. Mod tools would make me _______!

Can I buy a vowel?

Anyway back on topic, I actually love map building however, its doubtful that there will be a map builder, however if it were added in future DLC I would purchase it the second I saw it.

consoles would be able to add custom content similar to how other games do it. I know ps3 can, not sure about Xbox. Obviously consoles wouldnt have the SDK/Mod tools to made maps/mods...

Well it can. I mod all of my games. (Not multiplayer, I hate hackers) But singleplayer ones.

Blaven, I've never heard of any dev releasing mod tools as DLC... Its always free... Why is it doubtful? In the latest Q&A Paul Wedgwood never said it was doubtful, the way I took what he said is that it is a possibility sometime AFTER launch...
