Sea security.

Just wondering, why no imperial warships? Wouldn't you think instead of all these pirate and trading vessels there would be warships there to protect them and the harbour... I'm sure they wouldn't though care that much pertaining to the pirates.

What's the lore on sea combat and security for the empire of Tamriel?

The answer is the same as for many other threads in this forum right now: They can not represent everything in game.

Little to none, I reckon.

Muthsera,

Adanorcil is correct, the devs could not represent everything, and yes, there is quite a bit of lore concerning the Imperial navy. Most of this lore is contained in http://www.imperial-library.info/tsorg/.

Also, a few lines from http://www.imperial-library.info/obbooks/ionith.shtml are worth noting: "A new Far East Fleet was created for the campaign, which for a time dwarfed the rest of the Navy; it is said to be the most powerful fleet ever assembled in the history of Tamriel. The Fifth, Seventh, Tenth, and Fourteenth Legions were selected for the initial landing, with the Ninth and Seventeenth to follow as reinforcements once the beachhead was secured. ... Perhaps most crucially, the Navy had only enough heavy transport capacity to move four legions at a time."

I am sure that there are more texts addressing your issue, however such a presentation will have to wait, for I must be off. Until we meet again, I remain...

Yours in the Scrolls,

The diary of the deceased captain from the Smuggler's Den plugin has a bit of information about the Imperial Navy as well. Unless I'm mistaken and it's another captain, somewhere in the game.

So there is some lore with an Imperial navy :)

If the next game is set in Skyrim there should definitely be a few Imperial warships there or even Nord ones. I just want to see Bethesda's idea of a warship in the Elder Scrolls. Plus maybe an Imperial faction quest where you have to take a trip on an Imperial Galley and board a pirate or similar type shady like enemy vessel. I know they can't think of everything and that's why we should help them think of everything... ;)

Well, it was possible to be on the Bloatin' Float while it was captured by pirates ;)
