Second Feyfolken Writing Contest

Post » Sat Jan 22, 2011 12:24 am

Oh! You meant your procrastination! I thought you meant me :) Okay, that's fine. The link is in my signature, or http://s1.zetaboards.com/Feyfolken/index/.

I'm more than happy to do them. What do you think I can do to make them more organized and the like? I really don't know, I was hoping you guys could help me out on that one :) I know that it made me write a lot more, at least over the weekend.

Thanks for writing, and keep it up :goodjob: (No, I will never stop doing that :P)

PS Nilloc, I too love the Safety Dance music video :)

Just an update:

Another story has been submitted, bringing the total up to three. If anyone is currently writing, it would be nice if you could tell me how you are doing. If you plan on not entering when you previously said you were, please let me know about that as well. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

PS Judges from last contest that are writing this round will have their moderator status taken away very soon, and the only new judges that I have confirmed (Half Tooth and Sparrow) already have been made into mods. Thanks guys!

Keep up the good work :goodjob:

Yes, I recall that now. My bad, I simply had written it in the post above, and all my documents came from that.

Sure thing reds; you gotta do what you gotta do :) We'll be waiting for you on contest three :D

Anyone else ;)

Oi! Get writing you! Been a long time since I've seen you write a TES fanfic, it would be nice to see you try one again. :)

I really love contests like this, so I may attempt to write a story for the contest. I am a little anxious though, as this would be my first attempt on the forums, and I would hate to dissapoint the higher class of forum goers. I will start now however, and perhaps I will understand my mistakes I have made and improve for the next contest. I do have two questions though. Can I write in more of a songlike way such as in Norse tales like beowulf and J.R.R. tolkien songlike recounts of stories found in the Lord of the Rings? Is there any requirements for this contest? Thanks for setting up a good contest guys, and I hope to see many writers and stories for this contest. :)

Don't worry about disappointing the "higher class," because there is no such class. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just full of them self. There are better writers, yes, but I wouldn't say they're a higher class. Everyone pretty much gets along with each other here.

And for those who never got the memo, here's a link to Dark's site: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Feyfolken/index/

Vistariman, please feel free to write something for Feyfolken! We would love to have you, regardless of writing ability. Sure, you can write a song-like story, so long as it meets the other rules (around 3,000 words, Tes fan fic, and it can't be posted anywhere else). Thanks, we look forward to your story (can you have it done by the fifteenth?) :goodjob:

Upper class? Not really, though we have a few people of a slightly better caliber (you have to admit). Not me, of course, everyone knows I'm a fairly mediocre writer.

Thanks for posting another link, though I have them just about everywhere (every single post I make :P)

Oh yeah, I AM writing something. About a 1/3 of the way done, actually. Not trying to sound uppity, just letting you know since you wanted us to tell you if we'd be entering or not.

Has this second contest started yet? I does has an entry ready (finished it today.) It might need a redraft or two before actual sending off... and a decision about which ending to use and decommarification but still :D

Ah, yes. About that... I kind of started it before I probably should have. In hindsight, it was a very bad idea to be so eager :embarrass:

I does has an entry too :) Go ahead and take your time editing and decommarificationizing :P Would that be the removal of commas, or what?

Good to see so many entries, please keep telling me if you have plans on writing :D

EDIT: Indeed, I do the exact same, thing.

That it would. I tend to put them in wherever I'd pause whilst telling the story, if you watch Tony Blair talk, you get some kind of idea how many commas I put in :P

I wonder how much length matters, mine is either 2000 or 1500 words depending on which ending i choose and I'm having a hard time deciding

The story must be between 1,000 and 3,000 words. We would appreciate everyone staying under 3,000, but you are allowed to go up to 3,200

Simple answer? As long as it's between those two figures, the length makes no difference at all. I'd much rather read a tightly written 1500 word story than a longer story which has been padded with waffle. As long as the length suits the story, that's all that matters.

Indeed, the deadline is in exactly seven days, one hour, and 48 minutes. If you do not have it in to me by then, it will have to wait until the next contest.

That's fine Reds, life before forums you know :)

Yeah, so long as the length exceeds a thousand words it should be fine. You could be at a slight disadvantage with fewer words, but some stories simply don't work with much "fluff".

Thanks everyone, and please keep writing :D

I still plan to enter, but lots of things have kept me madly occupied D: So I'll just warn you that I might not be able to enter this time round if I don't get the chance to finish it all off next week.

EDIT: Sorry to hear that, Half Tooth. I enjoyed your last entry, and regret your discontinuing. Thanks for telling me, though :)
