5 seconds of Skyrim footage - leaked Demo

you know that his name is not Dovahkkiin. Being dragonborn doesnt mean that your name is dragonborn

I know. But Dovahkiin sounds epic. Dovahkiin means dragonborn, and we are dragonborn, thus the pc can be referred to as Dovahkiin.

No matter how many times I watch that slowed version I do not see any sign of a compass. I see someone's computer screen, not a compass.

Believe I'm excited about this and I am waiting eagerly for just about any scraps, but even the Grinch left more than what was in that trailer.

The compass is there and everyone else sees it, I don't know why you're having trouble finding it. (It's on the top of the screen, the thin, brown bar.)

Ya, it is pretty epic. I think I remember some of the web guys that watched the demo referring to the player character as Dovahkiin in their articles as well. Seeing as we don't know what Todd named his character, Dovahkiin works just fine.

It's like how your default name was Lone Wanderer in FO3 and Courier in FNV doesn't mean that's your characters name but that's what the PC is referred to as.

For anyone having a hard time seeing the compass I brightened the screencap that had it http://img834.imageshack.us/f/compasslighter.jpg/

Also if anyone is interested in hearing "proof" that that's the compass, here's a clip where Todd Howard says the compass is always on the top of the screen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH0FsT1I5D0&feature=related

Actually Todd's character's name is Bendu Olo and has been in all the demos since Morrowind. As far as what the PC is generally referred to though you are correct.

My blind ass still cant see the compass... :sadvaultboy:

The rest looks good though, especially that snow. I kinda figured it would just be little blurry white dots but it looks to be rendered well.

I'm sorry, but all I can think is... Why does he whisper? Is he a top secret government sanctioned agent, hired to perform the dirty work and infiltrate the secret underground lair of Bethesda HQ, where they are secretly planning world domination, through the manipulation of the games industry market?

... Or am I just deaf?

Don't forget Bendu Olo also attacked the Sloads and sunk their island!

Top center of the gameplay footage. It's a long thin black strip.

Only Todd plays Bendu Olo in the demos?

Then it's something like Lord British.

Well, to bring the topic back to discussing more video details..

Personally I cannot stand the idle left hand animation with the fire spell. If they're going for that Bioshock-esque spell-in-hand look.. they should make the hand look more natural while it's idle. Who walks around holding a fireball up to their chest like that, with their hand positioned in such a strange way? I noticed the same stale, awkwardly stiff positioned spell-hand in the screenshots as well. Not impressed. If anything comes to mind from this, regardless if it's only 5 seconds or not from this clip, I shudder at the thought of Bethesda's animators still pumping out garbage content and calling it worthy of a AAA video game. Even some of the 3rd person combat from the trailer was awkwardly animated, with characters' limbs (arms, back/neck mostly) bending far beyond natural ability with human fluidity not being sustained.

I sure hope these animations aren't going to make it into the master of the game the way they are. Otherwise, I guess we'll all have to run around feeling like we're a bipedal construct of silly putty. :sadvaultboy:

This is 100% irrelevant, the hand animations for FPS games have always been like this. These kind of posts pop up in the battlefield forums once a day its the spear's thread of the FPS world and guess what,I doubt its changing anytime soon.

I don't see the big deal about this. The only thing it showed that we didn't already know was the enviroment that could be anything.
