Secret Of Vulcan Fury...Will it be released?

I was so disapointed when the game failed to be released.....and even more disapointed when your company was experiencing financial troubles and shut down operations. Glad you folks are back. But I was wondering...is the "Secret of Vulcan Fury" ever going to be released? I hope there is a way folks.

Unfortunately, it will never be released.

SoVF was never close to be finished. It was years away from being finished when it was cancelled. After it had been announced, it was decided that it needed a major change in direction and all the work up to that point was basically lost when they started over.

On top of that, we no longer have the license to make Star Trek games.

Very sad. I shall be in mourning for a game that shall never be. ;(
I hope one day you folks can get the license to do the Star Trek stories/pc games again. Perhaps, if that happens, the game you come up with will be even better than SOVF and put gamesas on top again.

I just thought i'd register to throw in my two cents, especially since gamesas is much smaller then it used to be and practically it's entire dev team is on these forums and actively participating.

you really do have a substantial market to rebuild and re-release SOVF. This game was one of the most anticipated games of the end of the 90s, not to mention that it has voice acting from TWO now-deceased star trek cast members and a script originally developed by a TOS writer. Even if your game required rebuilding from scratch, this isnt the 90s, there are so many game engines in existance these days that you could easily buy a license for the source code and build on, you really wouldn't need to star completely from scratch like you guys did with 25th Anniversary or JRites.

The only real impediment to you guys trying is the license from paramount, they obviously would be hesitant to issue you guys a license again considering gamesas's previous financial issues, but if you guys pick up your game, i dont doubt in a few years Paramount/CBS would be willing to negotiate for at least a 1 off star trek game (SoVF) considering the previous record sales gamesas's former trek games had.

Please don't give up on this, you really do have an incredible fanbase out there that would love to see this finished. And you also have the "noistalga" thing going for you now, since JRite was DeForest's last work outside of this, this could be a memorial to both Kelley and Doohan, their last appearance together.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I for one would like something done with the voice over work...perhaps the same story in a newly designed game. This HAS to be saved!
