Security and Resistance.. How they stumbled upon Parkour?

Post » Mon Sep 13, 2010 10:29 am

This is just for fun. I've been wondering this for a while actually and it just seems like fun to see what you guys would come up with... Now each way they discovered how to PK can be different or however you seem fit. I'm sure the Devs might come up with someway to implement it somewhere during cut scenes or something

On the Ark, the majority of the space is taken up by an urban environment, or ghettos made up of cargo crates stacked ontop of eachother. going over the obstacles instead of wandering the maze of crates only makes sense to me for the resistance. The security, charged with keeping the refugees in order, would have to be able to chase the troublemakers wherever they might go.

Resistance would create a style for hit and run attacks, and security would learn to pursue.

Well... if you were getting shot at I think anyone would quickly decide to vault over and climb to get away from being killed... just saying.

Well the thing is it would take training. Even with the adrenaline pumping I don't think anyone without proper Knowledge of PK (such as myself) would get beyond a couple lucky slides and a vault.

I could probably get over some railings and climb some low walls, but I'd get tired quite quickly. (Although I do have some minor respiratory problems, so I'm not the best judge.) Even before then, I'd be moving slowly enough to get shot.

While carrying a gun, you'd need lots of training.

It's actually amazing what people will do when they are scared or faced with death. Adrenaline's a funny thing.

Parkour doesn't have to be taught. You can learn by doing, is more dangerous and It takes longer but teaching isn't necessary.

Parkour origins from a form of movement developed in the military. This has been used in the Vietnam War already (I'm not sure if even earlier) and was reformed to a sport by David Belle, whose father had learned to original style of movement for the Vietnam War.

So everyone with a military background on the ARK could have learned this form of movement in basic training already and is just using and teaching it.

Remember that during Brink, it's in the future. Right now, loads of people train, practice, perform, have fun and use parkour. Urban Freeflow says :"We multiply" and we do.
So it shouldn't be surprising that people are trained in parkour on the Ark.
