Personally, I find this to be a cool feature to BRINK, because in reality no one truly thinks they are in the wrong when they go to war. As Edward Stern put it, "No one thinks they're wrong. No one says 'Yep, I'm evil, I oppress, that's pretty much all I do.'"
It adds to the intrigue and suspense of the game, and it allows the player to perceive things a lot more differently than "These guys are always right and those guys are always wrong."
