See your feet

This always bugged me. If Escape from Butcher Bay could do it on the original Xbox, why can't they do it now?
Your thoughts?

They can do it. No problem at all. Mods even did it half-way for Oblivion. It can be done in two different ways technically, but I don't wanna go into details as it's pretty pointless in a fan forum.
It would really enhance the feeling of 1st person, which otherwise hasn't really changed for like 9 years when Morrowind came out.
Mirror's Edge has an awesome 1st person view.

I hope this is already in Skyrim or will be. It should be.

They can do it if they want to.
Why should they?

I prefer first person to be as unintrusive as possible.
Wouldnt seeing your feet moving about the whole time become annoying very fast?
It would become 'that game with the feet' in my mind, where I would prefer to focus on the vista.

Just because one game implemented a pointless feature, doesn't mean they all have to.

(Only time it seems like it would mean anything useful, is if the core gameplay needs it - like in Mirror's Edge. Other than that...... ok, you can look at your shoulder in Arma II. So what?)

Yeah, this topic comes up a lot. And I mean A LOT. Did I mention a lot?

Anyway, yeah, of course, I'd like to see it. Really, I don't anticipate NOT being able to see your lower body, almost all the first-person games these days have it, and in the trailer you can clearly see your arms even when the Dragonborn didn't have his weapons drawn, so I imagine the lower body would follow suit.

The subject of feet though...I really would like feet to actually look like feet. In Oblivion they just looked odd and in Fallout 3 it was even worse! In general, a lot of video games that spend a ton of time on various graphical beauties tend to have very undetailed feet. Maybe I'm weird for noticing, and I don't have any real worries about it, just throwing it out there. :P

They'd only be there when you look down. It's not like you can see your legs darting in front of you when playing Halo. The same thing could be said about your arms.

A lot of features can be interpreted as useless. That's no reason not to implement them though. Why have spoons and table cloths? It helps immersion.

I don't know why this is such an issue for some people?
Starting to suspect you're all foot fetishists.

If the mountains look like plastic, that bugs me. But it never even noticed that I can't see my feet until you weird people started talking about it.

And again,

All this hoopla, and someone at some point mentioned seeing your feet in Halo 2. I went back and looked, and sure enough you could. Of course I hadn't noticed it in well over 70 hours of play, so yeah- how important and immersive.

Portal 2 didn't had it :D

Yes it could be easily added, but something tells me weird things could happen if you look down while you're standing near the ledge or stairs...

And it wouldn't make it feel like less of a flying camera with arms, more like it would make it feel like a shoulder-mounted camera.

Because it's such an easy thing to implement (I would assume with my complete lack of coding knowledge) that it's starting to become really annoying. Like somebody else said, if BGS is prepared to add cutlery to the game world to help immersion why on Earth are they not adding feet to the first person view of a game designed primarily to be played in first person?

Seeing as there are a lot of mountains and steeps in Skyrim, when you walk near the edge of those cliffs, we would definitely benefit from it. It wouldn't be a "pointless feature". It enhances the feeling of things like this: "Oh darn I'm so close to the edge of the cliff. Yikes! This is real! I'm not a floating camera!"

Sure, I'd like to see a more realistic first-person view. That's the biggest thing that always bugged me with first-person--I could see more in third person than I could in first person, and in RL I see a lot more than first person in the game allowed. So, yes. If they improve first person, I will be pleased. :D

It would be nice to have it but if it's there, I probably won't notice it and if it isn't, I probably won't care. And I suspect this is exactly the reason why they aren't doing it: too much work for something that not a lot of people will care about.

I like this feature a lot. Thief: Deadly Shadows, FEAR, Mirror's Edge and some other games did it well, and playing a non-feet game afterwards always feels weird and empty when you look down.

I'd love this feature, but it may be hard for the devs to add 1st person leg graphics for all the different race and armor combinations.

I want to screenshot the moment my character takes the first of the 7000 steps. :) Too bad if it has to be in 3rd person.
Edit: I hate the feel of being a floating camera.
