seeing the projectile (bullet)

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 1:36 pm

I made a custom version of the .556 projectile ( used by the assault rifle projectile) so I could slow it way down to visually see the bullet in game. The problem is that there is not bullet to be seen, its invisible. The only thing I can see is the tracer. I checked the (.762) nif for the .556 projectile and saw a bullet in there along with the tracer. Is there a way to actually see the bullet moving at incredibly slow speeds (like 50 on the projectile page). Ultimately I want to make odd looking projectiles that can be seen shooting from guns. But if I can't even see the normal bullet, it will be a while until I can see odd projectiles.

No answers, huh? I think you've run into a bug in the render engine. I have found that when I slow down projectiles, it is hit or miss as to whether the engine renders them. I use a 40mm grenade with a speed of 2500. Sometimes the projectile is rendered, sometimes not. Mostly not. Its very frustrating.

Try renaming it from Projectile. Looking at the other projectile nifs, things that always render like the dart/missile have a different naming system.

Ok, I'll give that a shot and see if it makes a difference.

On weapons where the actual projectile rendering isn't critical (like bullets, invisible flame impact projectile, certain lasers, etc..) you'll notice they're all set to supersonic, while all others that are visible (like plasma, grenades, nukes, missiles, spit, etc..) do not have that checkbox checked :hubbahubba:
Unchecked, a high speed setting only makes them hard to see, but they're there... Checked, and you'll not see them reguardless of what speed you have set.

You could also change it from a Projectile to a Lobber like what I did for my grenade mod. I created a 40mm grenade that uses the properties from a missile but change the missile to a grenade and then for the projectile I used a grenade. But I had to change it from a projectile or lobber or thrown weapon. Then all you do is play with the numbers and stuff to get it the way it should be.
