Seeing too much?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:18 pm

So from what I've heard we may get some new gameplay footage from Quake-con this week and possibly from gamescom next month. Then after that I'm sure there will be plenty more to come til November. I really want to see these but I don't want to take too much away from the fun of discovering things myself.

How do you guys feel about it?

Will you just stop watching after a certain point?

Right now I just want to see more. There are a lot of questions that can be answered without spoiling the story. I hope we'll see more about the various game mechanics--skills, levelling up, armor, etc. Assuming they release footage from Quakecon, that is.

I really don't believe any amount of footage released will ruin FO4 for me. I have well over 1000 hours in on NV and just started a new play though recently, and discovered a different way to complete some missions.

I won't. There's a lot to explore, more than they can "spoil" with gameplay vids. I'm still looking for info about how the game works. Skills, perks, SPECIAL, etc though I don't expect we'll get much info on that until the reviews start coming out. Once Nov gets here I'll be too busy playing Fallout to visit the forums though. :)

I would like to find out more about the game and I'm not too worried about spoilers.

I've actually been avoiding some of the videos from E3, so...... yeah :)

(I watched the trailer, and the combat & crafting montages. Trying to avoid anything that gives away bits of plot & story, like the demo of the opening tutorial.)

I'm a fiend, I'll probably check out everything available lol! I'm especially looking forward to reading the game magazines. Just like the good ol' days!

I intend to watch whatever I can. I don't think they will give away too much about the plot, but there is so much to do even a little hint wouldn't ruin it for me. I would like a little more on the mechanics etc...

I want more of everything.

However, I mainly just want to see the whole perk/skill things explained, and have a list of them shown so I can start planning my character to kill time. I also wish they'd show more weapon types, and prove that their "over 50 base weapon" claim isn't just the dirty lie I think it is.

I want to know about features (like skills and perks) and nuts and bolts details, but don't really want to see any more locations and most definitely don't want any story spoilers.

I do want to see a PC demo showing the UI in use with a mouse and keyboard.

I'll probably quit watching videos after the Quake convention. I'll probably quit going to the forum until the game comes out too. People are just jumping to conclusions and then arguing about what they over anolyze. There's like 3 months to go. There's no reason to burn out or be spoiled already.

I'd like to know how the new perk system works. I can wait for the rest of the game.

When the hype train starts a number of people go into a game info blackout where they cut themselves off from any sites that have info on the game they are keen on so that they avoid spoilers. I usually cut myself off from the game and any info on it about a month out so that if it's released in other parts of the world earlier than it is here in Australia, I won't be hit by any major spoilers.

I'd like more info on how the leveling system works first. But yeah once I have a rough idea of how to level up I'll probably be too distracted with making character builds that I probably wont follow to keep searching for new videos/info.

You kidding? For some people there's not enough info. I'm just interested in how leveling works.

I thought I was the only one who does this OP! When New Vegas was approaching release date, Obsidian released a series of developer diaries talking about different aspects of the game. I got 2 minutes into the first diary before deciding I wouldn't be watching any more of them. I was so excited that I didn't want anything spoiled.

I'm treating Fallout 4 differently this time. It seems gamesas has only been releasing content that relates to mechanics. The only thing I was upset about was that Preston Harvey/Power Armor sequence. Personally, I wouldn't have shown ANYTHING quest related. But hey, it's probably one of the first quests anyway.

Since this next bit is closed door, I expect wading through the Fakes and trolls will be near as bad as the sky is falling believers they fool.

Do wish I had a truth detector, but still good times.

I haven't watched a thing yet.

I learned my lesson with Oblivion. I followed every little scrap of news from the day Oblivion was announced in 2004 until the day Oblivion was released in 2006. I allowed myself to get so hyped up and over-excited that, when I finally had it in my hands, it was a massive, bitter disappointment to me in almost every way. Nothing Bethesda did could have lived up to my expectations.

I told myself I'm never doing that again. And I haven't. When Skyrim came out I found that I enjoyed it far more than I enjoyed Oblivion because I had no expectations. I am hoping that I have a similar reaction to Fallout 4.

I'll watch most if not all content with the purpose of trying to understand gameplay, any plot spoiling is a acceptable loss, as someone else noted there is going to be so much content the little I see wont spoil to much.

I'll keep watching. I still have a lot of questions about the new features and I am just plain curious by nature. It would probably make me crazy if I didn't keep up with what's happening. :user:

This x100

I want new info so bad but at the same time the info from quakecon will be back and forth with conjecture until solid info comes out.

The only bits of info I'm looking for are a firm confirmation of when Fallout 4 takes place and how skills and perks have been redone.

Hasn't this been ultimately concluded? We obviously don't know for sure, but it's reasonable to infer the rank based skill system is correct and the perks will be similar to Skyrim in that each skill has a tree.
