Seeing your own body in 1st person

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:41 am

Boobs, bumpy men areas between the pants... or not.
The main question is to see arms, legs, shoulders, torso, etc. To see something more than just your floating arms
It really adds a lot of feeling to the game I think :)

Can't stop watching Mirror's Edge clips on youtube. Dang I love it :P
You watch it too if you haven't already: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu3mDxn9XSQ

Buy the game! I bought it day one and love it. It's sad there won't be a sequel because I'm apparently one of the few people who did buy it

Um, isn't that what third person is for? The only thing I want to see is my hands If I'm holding something. When I want more, I'll zoom out into third person.

Playing another game is too much for me right now
Too much studies.
But it really seems like a nice game. Even though I haven't played it, I was also a bit sad there won't be a sequel...

Hopefully Bethesda has buyed it, played it and learned from it though :D

No. It's not realistic to be floating arms. Elder Scrolls is one of the few games that don't show you your legs. Think about how strange it would be if right now, while sitting at your desk you looked down and couldn't see your lower body? To me, it takes me straight out of the game every time I look down.

Sounds like it would be interesting

Also people are too sensitive these days...

Seriously, people get offended by the smallest of things. OH NO CLEAVAGE?! Hello! It's called the female body. People make a big fuss out of small things. Ridiculous.

ps if you don't want your children to play T or M rated games. Don't buy it for them, duh. Parents fault.

Actually most games don't let you see your feet, the only one that comes to mind would be Halo.

To all who have complained about this feature, I'd say them to play Dark Messiah and see for themselves how well it looks. It's just amazing how well made this mode is implemented in that game, also having in mind how old is it.

I agree.

There are a limit to things. Seeing boobs is just too extreme.
It's like if we would see our noses as well and our hair and have helmet vision.
It's just too extreme I think.

Seeing legs, shoulders and arms is enough for me to be happy :)

I think helmet vision would be great. It would force you to only wear your helmet in battles, not just strolling about in town. Adds a ton of realism.

I would love this idea! Adds some more reason to wear cool armor for first person.

I'm thinking about the fps hit. When I draw a sword in Morrowind, there's a slight but noticeable hit. So more on the screen might make it worse? I like the idea though.

I never had this problem, not even in Oblivion...

Although I could find myself experiencing it with this idea, but I could use a bit of a comp update anyways... :obliviongate:

Yes please! Invisible body in 1st person is a pet peeve of mine, only makes 3rd person all the more preferable for me. I loved how it showed your body in Thief 3, and the Riddike games. Yay for immersion. ^_^

it would be good if you didn't hold your shield and weapons right in front of your face.
Just the very corner of the shield and very end of the sword unless you look down at it in 1st person.

Nah I like seeing my swords and and shields and hands and stuff.

The hovering camera absolutely kills immersion for me, so if this is not in I will be disappoint.

I really dont want to, it just kinda blocks your view, I mean if you want to see your character you can just go into third person

Meh. Doesn't matter, really. It won't contribute to the fun factor (for me personally.) There would be 1,000s of collision detection problems too, and I want less better working stuff on the screen than lots of not working stuff on the screen if you ask me.

I know, but still, having boobs be visible when one looks down seems like there's no reason for that to happen other than eye candy.

Because thats where their supposed to be?

As long as they lay off the cleavage its not a big deal, hopefully most armor will cover the chest area since that is what a cuirass is supposed to do.
I doubt will have a bust slider and they will be the same size I bet from Oblivion which you never really noticed.

I want to see my body because then I'll be able to judge my distance from an object and make a tight jump and not feel like a floating ball.

I would at least like to see my lower torso and leggs. A bit how halo reach does it.(blasphemy)

I completely agree. In Oblivion I remember trying to gauge my jumps in first person, which was a constant pain since I was trying to jump from roof to rook as a hovering camera. If we can get legs and feet with collision detection in first person I will be more than pleased, but if we are still a hovering camera I will be saddened to say the least.

Oh, I don't think anyone really expects them to be visible looking forward. Even realistically, you wouldn't see them until you were looking very tilted down, giving the viewsize on a screen.

Not if they were the size of my boobs, I can't see my feet if I look down standing up so seeing boobs doesn't bother me, I'm used to it lol.

I don't know anyone who DOESN'T like boobs.

I don't, they get in the way.

I don't want to see my character's "human horn", if you get my meaning (and Futurama reference).

Feet would be okay, though.

Yeah as long as were not pitched tents walking about it would be a very good subtle feature.
