Peple connect Redguards to real life african americans(or other african ethnic group.) all the time.. but why? I mean I know they look similar but that doesn't mean they are similar. For example, I have read on the internet that a lot of people get "turned off" of playing red guards because they are considered the "black" race.. even though they are just another race of human in the TES world right? Anyway, it just seems a lot of people dislike Redguards. but why is that? I personally like Redguards a lot, but it could be because I am african american.. I don't know. I also like orcs a lot though.. so I think it is just a matter of preference. However what is interesting is.. a lot of people like dark elves who have DARK skin.. like darker than redguards skin.. yet people love dunmer? Why? is it because the dunmer basically have no connection to a real life race? What do you guys think?
I like Redguards, one of my best friends is a Redguard!!!
Seriously though, I know what you are saying, but at least you have some in-game facsimile of your ethnicity.
In Oblivion the races were:- Altmer - High Elf
- Argonian - Reptilian Humanoid
- Bosmer - Wood Elf
- Breton - Similarities to Citizens of the English/British Empire
- Dunmer - Dark Elf
- Imperial - Similarities to Citizens of the Roman Empire
- Khajiit - Large Cat Humanoid
- Nord - Similarities to Viking/Nordic Race
- Orc - Self Explanatory
- Redguard - Similarities to Black/African Race
Sadly, there's no game-world equivalent to my ethnicity, which is Asian, though I was able to customize an Imperial look somewhat like me in Oblivion. I imagine the list of playable races will be exactly the same for Skyrim.
