idk how i feel about your own spells hurting you, unless of course your are intentionally doing it by putting a fire spell on self haha. although it wouldnt really bother me too much, i just think skyrim has too many face to face encounters for area effect spells to matter if they hurt you too.

Yes - that should absolutely be the case. Excepting, of course, whatever resistance/shield/absorption you might have to the effect in question, if you're within the area of effect of a spell, even one you cast yourself, you should be affected by it just as anyone else within that area of effect is.

then i thought about it, and I'd be an original alternative for a simple"load" button. Instead of pressing start, and clicking load to load you're game after you failed a pickpocket, you perform something seppuku-esque to just die and reload. It might add immersion (shudder).

Well yes some are of effect spells thats affect player as well as enemies will add more tactic to combat, and there also can be perk for damage reduction to self in Destruction perk tree, but accordingly to trailer %PCname does not affected by his AOE spells

Well its just that it would add some fun to it, change the old, "ok there is a group of enemies now I cast area spell because thats the best choice" make you have to think just a little more, also they could make area spells more powerful, but offset that by making them dangerous to you
