Self-repair enchantment

As we are all aware, follower equipment tends to fall apart quickly as they have no upkeep capability. I have a mod where one follower has several followers of his own (a small army) so I don't get the "you have too many followers message." It occurred to me that it would be nice to be able to give them items that won't fall apart. Those who played Diablo II may remember occasionally running into magic items with self-repairing on them.

I have the version of the Construction Set that works with Shivering Isles.

Can anyone think of a way to make an enchantment which restores the health of armor and weapons using only the Construction Set with no script extenders?

You are pretty much limited to removing and readding their items every now and then so that they get new gear at full health. With no way to check what items they currently have, in case they differ from their initial stock gear.

As for enchantments, constant effect enchantments from armor can't run script effect blocks AFAIK, so you'd have to use something else anyway.

I can't help on the specific question you asked, but I do help control the repairs of companion gear by carefully choosing what to give them, then going into the CS and giving all their gear a durability of 15000. That way no matter how much wear and tear it takes in a given day, it is unlikely to go much below 124% repair. Then we just do repairs for them once a day while sitting around the campfire at night. I do understand there are mods for companions to repair their own gear but, given my own solution, have not found it necessary to look into them. Clearly, my way of doing business works best with fewer and rather long term companions.
