Sell Brink for LA Noire

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 8:22 pm

I've been thinking recently about a little game by Rockstar called LA Noire, I COULD buy it with cash but I am tempted to trade in Brink and get about 30-40 bucks out of it and only have to pay about 20-30. Don't take this the wrong way I love Brink I think it's an amazing shooter but for a game based around its MP and teamwork against the other team the MP is laggy as hell and un-playable for me. I get into the occasional lag free matches but 85% of the time the games I get into are either not full, lag filled, or just one sided matches where its a bunch of guys on security against bots (Yes I chose to search for Versus). If a patch doesn't fix this game soon I think I will be trading it in for LA Noire.

EDIT: I am not selling Brink BUT you guys really have to understand my argument here. I am not hating on Brink its just that Brink's been delayed for two years and in that time you'd think they would iron out these issues like lag and texture problems. Its like they didn't even let their own staff touch the game. You for you guys who are also saying "Oh look at Rockstar's games they are so buggy on release it is just unplayable and annoying" I didn't get any of those game breaking bugs but I believe you guys, its just that they CAN do that because it is such a big game world so managing everything is hard if they want to have the game ship by street date. Brink on the other hand is a FPS

Maybe if you wait awhile and stop being so impatient like everyone else complaining about this game and the lag they will fix it. The game just came out, give SD some time to fix it. Not every game is perfect when it is released, they always have their flaws that can be fixed.

If you can't wait, then go ahead.

Its not like SD loses money if you trade it in.

You obviously do NOT know me at all if you think I am impatient. I was one of the few people who went like "Oh this game will be patched soon and it doesn't even look that bad" now I am starting to get a bit mad at the game because of the lag I am getting. It just isn't acceptable especially because this game is based on the MP and it's not like this is the first time SD does a FPS game with MP

a little way to get around some of the lag if you dont mind the lack of other players... custom match and set the party size low. make it 4 on 4 at max, 3 on 3 does fine.

as for L.A. Noire... that game looks so bland. it sounds like another heavy rain.. and that game was boring.

Too bad they patched it the day it came out. Patches take two weeks to process. Pay attention more often. Go ahead sell your game. You'll just be dissapointed when you beat L.A. Noire and you'll have nothign to do and come to find out that the MP on Brink is sooo much better and lag free. Haaavve fun with your SP game only.

Well it's not like your DNA will be banned from the game if you hear it's better after sometime. I think LA Noir would be interesting to play, i was am a fan of the Heavy Rain. Play that, beat the story in a two days, go back and play it like you wouldn't have, then comeback and see if BRINK is better for you.

I wanna know where you're going to trade it in for 30-40.. Cuz most game stores I talked to are only giving 20-25 max.

I am pretty sure that is only if it is a used copy of the game or if it is un opened

Why would you trade in a game that has been out for 2 days...that's also online, and most likely will be getting alot of support from devs...for a game that has absolutely no replay value...? I don't understand what everyone's big deal is. The game has been out for 2 days, hasn't had a patch...give it some time and stop crying. This is getting rediculous. They pushed the game for early release, so people could hop in and play, don't expect everything to be perfect. Geez.

I hope people do trade Brink in, this way when the games is all fixed and forgotten, the kids will be gone, and people who play the game will be worth playing with... Besides, I've been playing in the 5v5 competition matches and the lag, for the most part, is absent.

You have to consider his view point though, one thats shared among many.
Its all well and good being patient for them to fix this game, probably what I'll do. But I'd much prefer a full working game in the first place.

Is like buying a brand new car, to find out you're going to have to service, tax and MOT it yourself anyways.

THANK YOU! People don't seem to understand and they think I am impatient and such...I am just saying for a game based on the MP it shouldn't be extremely laggy for everyone. And for everyone saying "They released it early because they wanted us to play faster" that isn't true...they released it earlier because they finished development on the game. What they should of done is kept it for a week or delayed it for another to try to iron out the problems.

If Splash hadn't already addressed the lag issues, then I'd be complaining. But from the looks of it, they're working on getting frame rates and lag fixed. If you can't pop a different game in & wait to see if things have improved then make final judgement. No game is perfect at launch, even when "they finished development on the game"

Apparently the game was specifically made for PC (Which isn't a problem and I hope they are enjoying it) except if you have an ATI card then you have issues. As for us console users we are screwed because the translation wasn't clear; i.e. the net coding. The game is a "Beta" at best with a ton of potential. Again, they had wonderful ideas and it's not been realized.

Honestly, I don't know if the finger should be pointed to Splash Damage or to Bethesda because for all we know they, Splash Damage, could have been pushed to get the game out before EA's power house, Battlefield 3 with Frostbite 2, and Activision boring but wildly successful Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 came to fruition.

Argue what you will, the game has way too many issues for it to be called a solid release.

Good games aren't released broken, period.

Good games may have a few problems, but never game-breaking, like Homefront, Crysis 2, Brink....

I doubt whether they would have identified all the problems even if they kept at it for three months without it being played by the actually customers. Plus, I think Splash Damage has already indicated that the game is not one that is delivered as a finshed product without any further support. They were in fact vocal on the issue of post-release support and adjusting the game as the online community takes shape.

LA Noir does look like an amazing title, but it looks like the kind of game you would play once and never pick it up again..at least for a good while. A multi-player game like Brink for me is something I can play with friends for a long time. If you enjoy Brink I wouldn't suggesting trading it in, they will patch the bugs later on. Just buy Noir if you want it though, I probably will.

Hey I know this is completely unrelated to the topic at hand but what exactly happened with Crysis 2? I never played the retail release (demo bored me) but this is far from the first time I've heard reference to its problems on these boards.

^What he said.

LA Noire will pretty much be like Heavy Rain. You play trough it once,it's will blast you away but then you did anything in this game, did every crime scene investigation and so on.
You will know which person is lieing and which not it's will have 0% replay value.
