Semper Fi or Die - Still broken (post 1.2)

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:03 pm

For all those of us who are having two major problems in Semper Fi or Die, patch 1.2 has not improved matters. The level is still very broke for some of us.

The following bugs still exist...

1) The constant yelling of 'Move up, go forward!', over, and over, and over, all through the level. This problem even occurs when no marines are around.

2) The 'defend the helicopter' final stage does not initiate, the enemies do not show up, and Delta Squad glitches. This error makes the level impossible to finish, and some of us have yet to progress through the rest of the game because of it.

There are video recordings of both these bugs taken by others players, and if you look within the comments (and previous threads on other forums, including steam) many have expressed the exact same problem.

Bug 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdP7Gv1EyYU
Bug 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QciBjdk3fCQ

It wasn't patched, of course it's not fixed.

Yes it was. It was patched to 1.2 today, and Steam updated about 30 minutes ago.

There is a workaround for this bug. I had the same bug and a friend of mine sent me his savegames when he just passed this part. You can put someone else's savegames in ur own game and load the checkpoint after it. The mission ends anyway right after the downed chopper so you won't miss much.

I had a feeling that would work, however I'd rather the game be actually fixed. Thanks all the same.

I'm pretty sure you can still get to the end of the level but jumping up and ledge grabbing the ledge on the back left of the map (on your right if you're facing out towards the rest of the map), and then walking down into the tunnel thing?

Sadly not. I spent a considerable amount of time trying that! If you do get to the top, it's blocked off by an invisible wall.

Extremely funny considering it is literally game breaking. People who suffer from this bug are unable to play on in the game because the mission is blocked/bugged. Crytek is just amazingly lame at not letting people know if and when this will be patched. It is a **** joke that a game is shipped with bugs like this and the developer doesn't seem to even respond on it.

There have been many posts saying that you can actually go past this bug and telling you how to.

No, there have not.

Tip 1) Jump over a ledge and go down a tunnel.

Fact 1) That ledge is blocked by an invisible wall, it doesn't work.

Tip 2) Find somebody else's save game

Fact 2) That doesn't fix the problem, it just skips it. I want to play the whole game, not just the bits that work.

So yeah, Cry-Tom... any word if this is being looked at? (yes, I am bumping this, because I've heard no acknowledgement from Crytek about whether they're even aware of this)

follow the path behind the chopper and around the corner and on the left hand side down the end is the tunnel i entered to exit the level.

Yes, I am very sure. There is no path behind the chopper, just a ledge on the left hand side. I'm not even sure we're having the same bug, no enemies actually spawn nearby, there's just a lot of floating un-manned guns firing bullets at invisible targets.

Stupid question, but are you using a trainer by any chance? I had this problem when I used a trainer, just to check out. What helped me was to restart the mission and play the whole thing through in one go. When a trainer was activated it was breaking the level almost instantaneously. Maybe there is a different program running in the background interfering with the game

Nope, no trainer. I'm just playing a 1.2 patched, unmodified Steam version. No background programs, no firewalls or anti-viruses, a completely compatible system and no alterations.

A few other people have tried restarting the level, apparently it didn't do much good. I'm weighing up whether to reinstall the game and start from scratch, or just wait for patch 1.3.

Yeah, it only happened to me when I activated the trainer. Didn't know it could happen for no reason. The marines constantly screaming are freaking annoying.

I tried that Advanced Graphic mod once, found it wholly annoying and removed the custom cfg file. I can't imagine that being the cause of the problem, but I'll have a look.
