dear todd howard:

i know that your time is extremely valubale but this message is urgent. it concerns the future of the elder scrolls. to start i have been a longtime fan of the elder scrolls(since battle spire). to be blunt i have a idea for a new game.this will let bestheda to have a clean slate and implement any new ideas and be completly lore friendly. i am talking about elder scrolls: abroad. this games basic premis is you start on a boat traveling across the sea of ghosts to discover new lands. as soon as your character is made, natives or other baddies kill almost all of your crew members but you escape with one other crew member and quickly discover that this new land is in turmoil and must help.

this basic frame is a good start point for a new game.you can rename the game if you wish. some minor tweaks are that in this world 'dwarfs' exist or at least add another race also make dragons bigger more powerful but be mostly dispenseries of wisdom and make magic rarer and more powerful plus more spells(bring makeing your own spells back!!!) another good idea would be to add comepletely domesticated animals that you can capture and tame. you and your team could add or take away from this idea but please implement it in the next elder scrolls game.

i realize you probably get hundreds of game ideas a day but please consider this idea. you can email me at

If this was Skyrim my answer would be:

"Okay. But first, you must do something for me. Go kill ____ and bring me his ring for proof, do that and I'll help you"

But since it isn't my answer is:

No.

and if he thinks our time is too valuable, the people who don't have his email address, think about the people who actually do.

think it'd be quicker to go to the bethesda offices, and ambush todd howard in the parking lot

Thats whats so great about TES, theres so much of the world unexplored. Whenever they want to clean there slate, they can do as you said & start on a different contenent. I had an idea like this once. However i don't think they will be doing this for a long time because theres still so much of tamriel left.

C'mon TES 6 Elsweyr...

How I would love to go to Elsweyr. The perfect mix of Jungle and Desert environments, I hear.
It'd be quite the boon.

the crashed ship starting idea is pretty solid but it falls apart after that. however a shipwreck would be an interesting start to an elder scrolls game possibly summerset isle even heck maybe your character might not be a prisoner.

Considering you didn't even take the time to add capital letters to your post.....why should they take the time to read it?

No, being a prisoner has become tradition. But if they did clean their slate, i guess it would be ok.

no no, we're just nobodies when we start the game\

it should take atleast 30 seconds before we are confirmed as the new saviour of everything and everyone

because if we are a hero from the start that would just be silly for they wouldve have imprisoned us in the first place!

Folks, if you don't have anything to really add but something rude that you personally think is funny, don't post.

OP, I removed your email address. It's never a good idea to put personal information out there, okay?

My personal beef with this is threefold. First off, you said lore friendly but then anywhere in the thought process had "magic rarer" and "dwarfsves exist" and "add a new race." Second off, caps are important. Third, it's not so simple. This is a big thing for me as a writer. Ideas are easy. Everyone and their dead great-great-grandma has an idea, but to actually turn them into a workable story requires a load of work and effort. I know you aren't implying that it doesn't, so this one isn't big while I'm directing it at you, but remember it.

However, I don't mind having a game that involves exploring new lands, someday. I just think we ought to finish Tamriel first, a thing that, considering even Morrowind and Cyrodiil are vastly different than when we last saw them, may never happen.

And if only it were so easy as saying "here's a thing, e-mail me." I have a bloody full-plot outline and roughly 25 page sample for a new TES novel. Unfortunately, rather than just sending a PM to a dev, I need to not only use the "proper channels" or Random House, but actually dig around to find out what the hell proper channels are when dealing with tie-in novels. On that note, if anyone knows what those are I'd not object to the tellin' of 'em. I'm assuming getting someone to make your game storyline is similarly difficult and, similarly, not insurmountible.

I... Just... No.

I'd gladly play such a game, but it's just not TES. And when we still have so much of the known world to explore, why add even more new lands and races?

Daggerfall started out with a shipwreck.
And our character wasn't a prisoner. I guess this idea isn't as novel as it may seem :P

Serious now. How would this game be different than the rest of TES games, other than it doesn't take place in Tamriel? "New land is in turmoil and you must help" - well, that's what almost all RPGs are about. The only new feature you suggested is taming and domesticating animals, hardly enough to build a game on (at least this kind of game :))
What's more, you want it to be lore-friendly, and then you call Dwemer coming back a "minor tweak". It's everything but minor.

I think what you really want is a TES game set in Akavir. It would have your sea-travel, new races, new lands, completely new cultures and possibilities, while still keeping connection with previously established lore.
