Going around, blasting people in the face is ok.... but a little swear word is where you draw the line?

Look, all I want is a censored mode. I wanna hear bleeps instead of cursing. Is that too much to ask?
Or you could just plug your fingers in your ears when a naughty word is said, saves the devs time and money.
It can't take that long to make a setting that bleeps things. And I'm sure I won't be the only one using it. I do understand, however, that the majority of the players won't be using the setting. Also, if I don't know the story already, then I don't know when the words are going to come up.
Horrible deplorable violence is acceptable, so long as folks don't say naughty words!
You're just rewording what OldtimeKiller already said. And as I told him, all I'm asking is for a setting that bleeps the curse words.
Can't wait until I can blast some gosh darn poophead super mutant in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun.
No. The Wasteland is a gritty and rough place. Also, it will be rated M. Not made for children.
Now you're getting it! I personally think it sounds better. Funnier. More entertaining. Like how other people think the F word or S word sounds better than poophead.
So is it because you find bleeping funny, because you find swearing offensive or because you want the devs to hide mature content from your children instead of being a responsible parent and doing it yourself ?
Alright OP I'll give you a serious answer. Fallout 4 is going to be rated M. There is, then, no point in adding a censored option.
Rated M for mature, as in, 17 and up. So no there won't be a censored option.
I wouldn't count on it happening. I don't believe Bethesda has ever put in a setting for individual censorship in their games for US versions.
Liar. You also asked for a violence filter.
For the children, of course.
If those elements are so offensive to your sensibilities, I'd say that Fallout might not be for you. If you really want to play it, you might have to make a sacrifice or two. Or you can mod it out or commission someone to do it for you.
I'd rather Bethesda spend this time improving stability, rooting out bugs, and maybe even creating new content to add via a patch, rather than strip out material like you're asking for.
People who are 17+ can also enjoy a censored language option. Why should we stop censoring things at M rated games? I just want the option. You don't need to use it.
Sadly I am not surprised that the pop culture reference went unnoticed. It was from south park the movie. Which dealt with an issue like this. Horrific violence = ok. Someone saying a bad word = get out the pitchforks.
All your asking for is someone to go over every line of dialog which a person could take offense at and censor it. Instead, if you buy the game, you should open the construction kit, and see exactly what your asking the devs to do.
There's a difference between stripping and creating an optional way of blocking it.
At this point what further could it hurt to have a language filter?
(And besides, http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/filter_zpsyngudehx.jpg.)
If they wanted to, they could even ham it up with silly sound effects or even 60's Batman style pop-up censor text.
This may actually be the most reasonable argument against a language filter. But regardless, I still think there should be one.
How about no and they just rate the game M for mature and anyone else who isn't comfortable with that stuff doesn't play?
Less people playing = Less money for developers
Sorry - but what have you been smoking?
No way - games don't corrupt anybody (this mind set of protecting children from everything (until they reach a certain age) is what's causing a lot of god damned problems anyway, we should stop it (or change how it's done))
It's not working anyway - as soon as a child goes to school it will hear swear words (and see violence - if real or on TV/in games)!
greetings LAX
The violence wasn't the main point of this forum. The main point, if you read the thread, was the language. Also, not all children go to public school; many children are homeschooled. And if a child hears something, they will repeat it (Or at least attempt to).
So your point about their post about the inevitability that the kid will eventually experience something they were sheltered from (such as harsh language) is that some people will be sheltered even longer?
