First of all, the older the child is when he/she hears it, the more mature they are and know what to say and not to say.
Second of all, it's not ONLY about the children. I would enjoy the game more if it were censored, and so would other players.

I can understand that, and you may be right. If there were a violence setting in the game I would probably switch it to a more realistic setting. Who knows, maybe someone will decide to make a mod for that type of thing.
Not necessarily true. The people I've seen go off the rails are more often than not the ones that were sheltered to an alarming degree growing up. Moreover, how can they learn not to say something if they're never exposed to it before? With first exposure, all it is is a word they're hearing for the first time.
I've also met hyper sheltered people who were so sheltered, criticism of their ideas was a completely new thing for them, and since they were never exposed to it growing up, they were woefully unable to cope with it in a reasonable manner.
I already said that it's not ONLY about the children and if you wanna know the other reasons, read through the thread. I'm not saying that children should be sheltered like the dirt under Mount Rushmore, I'm saying that some parents don't want their children hearing that language just yet, so a language filter would be helpful. And I'm not here to coach people on how to be a good parent and when and how to expose children to profanity, etc. I'm just explaining what many people want and how a language filter would be helpful.
Little children can go play Mario or Sonic until they're old enough to play Fallout.
The problem with that logic is that if something as ludicrous as censoring (in a Fallout game) gets the ol' toggle, then what's to stop every other teeny, tiny, eensy, weensy, minor suggestion getting its own toggle? Sorry man, saying "it can be an option because not everyone has to use it!!" is not a viable argument.
This guy seems to have gotten enough hate though.
Lol the burn is too sick to handle.
Also, what's happening right now? This thread is so bizarre it makes me wonder if I'm not dreaming.
Reasons for:
People who dislike profanity in the game
Artistic reasons (Think cartoons, 1#@$ is more 'arty' then a curse word)
Reasons against:
Dev time - That dev could have been doing something else, instead of either going over every piece of dialog, and taping over the offending material. Many would argue, that time is better spent doing anything else. (Personally, I'd much rather have the dev either debugging the game or adding in *more* content, then walling stuff off that folks might find offensive)
Scope creep - What next, get rid of any giant spiders because folks can get frightened? Or the latest fad in trigger words/etc? The line has to be drawn somewhere.
This got spammy, so we'll close it. OP... this may not be the game for you. It is rated for mature audiences, because there is profanity etc.
But hey, you could always turn subtitles off and play with the sound off, so that you don't hear anything offensive. If you don't want to see blood and gore when your character is shooting things with machine guns, mini nukes, rocket launchers and the like, I you could also just turn the gamma way down or just not install the game.
The thing about the gaming landscape these days is that there is such a wide variety of games to suit almost any taste.
