[RELz] Sensual Walks for Female NPCs

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:12 pm

TarlofGor has the right order but obviously missing importing the vwalk anim into the bashed patch.

Thanks

Although he said he wasn't using a bashed patch, so it should still work based on the LO above (although the Vilja customisations probably won't work prpoerly)

I do see the "thug" file, so that did get installed. So, I think the animation installer did it's thing correctly. I'll play around with the load order some per Alt3rn1ty suggestions. I can always change it back.

Maybe Vilja is using the animation correctly. It just looks very "fast" and different from all the rest.

If that is the case, then perhaps I'll look at your guides and see if I can apply a different "walk" to Vilja (my NPC is using Mur_Zik's walk and Vilja keeps running into her : )

Or, I think I saw where you could use the CS to force a NPC to use a certain walk (but, I hate to mess with the original ESP's like that; I'd probably screw something up : )

Also, your directions on using WB looked pretty straightforward. I'll give that a try soon.

Thanks,

Tarl

You can use the Sensual Walks Animations Installer to assign a different walk to classes of female NPCs. Vilja uses the "priest" walk, so you can chnage the animation used for priest and see if Vilja uses the new walk. The Installation Guide explains how to do this - no need to use CS at all, because Sensual Walks allows you to configure the animations associated with each type of female (or apply the same walk to all females).

Let me know if this helps.

Edit: If your character is using the original Mur_Ziks's sixy walk, then you may want to try some of the variations he produced, which speeds up the walk - if you have not already downloaded Mur_Ziks compilation, might be worth doing so - it is an OBMM install that includes all the sixy walks he has created and is menu driven.

A pleasure.

You should only see that prompt if "1em_Vilja.bsa" is NOT present. If you have the latest version of Vilja installed, the installer should show "Companion Vilja v2.2" as the version it has detected. If you are using WB, then it won't matter too much which Sensual Walks version you install.

I just tested it on my setup and I don't get that prompt - have you done something to the Vilja BSA file?

Sorry to start a mass Vilja / walk discussion  I do BASH the SW plugins, and she does not have the vanilla walk, but not a 'sixy/sensual' one either, so, as far as I'm concerned, all working correctly :D
And yes, Vilja's BSA is called VJ.bsa and is on another drive, loaded via my SArchive list.

No problem discussing and asking questions - happy to hear from people :)

Might be worth temporarily placing a dummy 1em_Vilja.bsa (just rename an empty text file) in the Data folder and then reinstralling Sensual Walks so you get the correct version installed - can't remember whether additional female characters are introduced in later versions, but it least when Vilja v3 comes along, you will have the correct Sensual Walks version installed. On the other hand, if it is all working for you, why bother ;)

I load everything that was checked in OBMM. I use BOSS but there are about 20 or so mods not in the list. I place those manually.
The two files that give trouble are

Better Cities Full - B&M Edition Vwalk.esp
Better Imperial City Vwalk.esp

This load order has been trouble free so far.

BOSS recognizes all the Vwalk files and places them correctly.
The file "Better Cities Full - B&M Edition Vwalk.esp" goes right after "Better Cities Full - B&M Edition.esp". SImilarly, "Better Imperial City Vwalk.esp" goes right after "Better Imperial City.esp", as you have it there in your LO. Let BOSS place the Vwalks, and it will.

Thanks anithinks

The placement of the BC Vwalk.esp was the only thing I noticed as well.

mechatech, can you try the correct Vwalk load order placement and let me know whether that helps to resolve the problem.

Thanks - much appreciated.

After thinking about it, I couldn't see how the load order of the BC and IC Vwalks ESPs was going to help.

Do you have Open Cities enabled? I don't see Open Cities in your load order, but you have Better Cities - The Lost Spires.esp enabled - this is only required if you use Open Cities.

You have BCBravilB&MFULL-Barrowfields patch.esp and Better Cities - Unique Landscape Barrowfields.esp - only use the BC provided one
You have BCCheydinhalFULLB&M-CheydinhalFalls patch.esp and Better Cities - Unique Landscape Cheydinhal Falls.esp - use only the BC provided one.

I doubt this will fix your problem, but worth doing.

I am going to release the updated Sensual Walks mod that includes support for the latest BC mods - will be done in the next 2 hours.

Can you try the new version and let me know if that works. If you are still having problems, can you post your revised Load Order and I'll take another look and see if I can spot anything.

Slightly off topic - looking at the number of mods you have, I really think you should make the effort and get Wrye Bash working so you can use the Bashed Patch feature (and it may highlight what is causing the load problem you are experiencing). I am sure that Blender will work with Wrye Bash - try removing Python via the Windows Uninstall menu and then download and install Wrye Python 03a from the Wrye Bash page on Nexus. I am still using WB v287 which is very stable (waiting for v291 before updating to the latest)

Let me know how you get on

Surazal,

This looks great. I haven't had time to work on my Vilja walk (I apologize for that since everyone gave me some good advice; but my RL is intense).

Anyway, I should be able to work with this new version this weekend. Appreciate you putting so much work on this one area of your already rather complex (in having to work with so many other mods, variables, etc.) mod.

Thanks,

Tarl

I don't use Open Cities. The thing about Better Cities is that those plugins are what the installer puts in.

Latest version now works. :) I'm thinking it was the BC master in 4.8.0

As for Wrye Bash. I have done everything but stand on my head. One Python library runs Blender and another Wrye. But I cannot get Wrye and Blender to work on the same system. I'm pretty much in over my head as it is just trying to run things now.

Thanks for the help.

I am very pleased to hear that it is now working for you - and, many thanks for your endorsemant.

The plugins I highlighted are probably installed by Chalky's UL compatibility patches - might be worth checking that you are running the latest version of his patches. The patches that have Better Cities in the ESP name are the ones included in the BC package, the others are not part of the BC package.

It might be worth posting the blender and WB problems you are having on the WB topic on this forum - there are some very smart people that may well have a solution to your issues - certainly worth a try.

Enjoy playing!

Surazal,

Ok. Finally got some time to, um, play with this : )

First off, I had to update Better Cities as Oblivion would not load with the "old" (by a week or so) version of BC and the newest version of Sensual Walks. No big deal anymore as I now recognize the symptoms and go grab the latest version of BC. You probably say on your web site what version of BC should be used with the current version of Sensual Walks, so I just need to take the time to read more/better.

But, I report ............. SUCCESS!

I thought Vilja might be actually using your SW, but I just couldn't tell. So I used your instructions for customizing the Installer (wonderful, just wonderfully clear instructions by the way) and selected a much different walk. And, it worked!

So, for some reason, the default Vilja walk per your mod (I think Zur's slow walk? I forget) does not work for my game (not too surprising as I'm amazed my game runs at all with all the mods I've added : ) But, Zur's 25% faster walk with facial expressions works fine for Vilja. As does Umpa's.

Strange, but no biggie.

Again, thanks for the work. We all really appreciate it.

Of course, I did end up discovering one little minor issue with this mod and Zur's mod (well, walk mods in general). Nothing whatsoever wrong with your work, it's just a matter of physics really. I got (I think) Vilja and my PC to use the same walk. Unfortunately, Vilja is a Nord. And my PC is a cute elf. I think you can see where this is heading : ) Yes, different leg strides. So, even though they use the same "walk", my PC goes slower (much slower) than Vilja due to my PC taking shorter strides.

I think that means that when I get a "real" computer, and setup my "real" Oblivion game (I'm just practicing now and figuring out what type of game I like and what mods to use), that I will have to make my companions be the same height/race. That way, they will all stay together when using the same walk. Or, that's my theory.

Anyway, thanks for your help. I didn't try the "bash" file thing yet, because, well, I'm scared of it still. Here's my problem with bashing. You gave me (along with others) very clear instructions on how to bash my mod list. However, I've never (that I can remember) seen any instructions on how to "unbash" a set of mods. Be nice if there was a button you could click in WB to "revert" or "unbash" your bashed files (maybe there is such a button I have just haven't seen it). I assume that just deleting the bash file would work, except you'd have to remember what mods to enable again (I think when you bash some mods, it then unchecks those particular esps).

Thanks again,

Tarl

Very pleased to hear that it is working.

Yes, there does some to be a dependency on the right version of BC (especially with the latest version) and is always documented in the Version History and displayed by the Sensual Walks Installer.

Vilja, by default, uses one of Mur_Zik's Real Walks - this is much more subtle and should definitely work on your system if any other walk animation is walking - perhaps you just need to compare to the male vanilla walk to see that there are significant differences :) Also, the latest Sensual Walks has Vilja as female type so you can specify exactly how you want her to walk - presume this was what you did (and thanks for the nice words about the guide - very much appreciated.

Legs - you can't walk without them :)

Probably nothing documented on removing a bashed patch, because once you have used it, you will never get rid of it, only make greater use of it.

Having said that, you are on the right track - just delete the bashed patch ESP and, assuming that all ESPs installed in your Data folder should be activated, just go into OBMM, right-click on the mod list and select Activate All - job done (bashed removed).

Since I took the plunge (because I thought WB was far too complicated for me), I have found that my game is far more reliable and things that didn't work too well together, now work well together - I have 316 mods active in my load order. There are also, many advantages to installing mods that have more than BSAs and ESPs via WB, makes it much easier to just try mods and then remove them and have WB put back all the files that were overwritten - but that is another lesson - still recommend creating a bashed patch (especially for Sensual Walks).

Glad I have been of some help and the very best of luck and enjoyment.

Companion Vilja v3.0.1 is now Sensual Walks Ready.

If you are using this version, you should deselect Companion Vilja from the Sensual Walks mod selection menu. The patches for Companion Vilja and the customisation pack will be removed in the next Sensual Walks update.
