Serana's dialogue still surprises me.

I've done the DG questline a bajillion times and Serana's personal disposition system still is interesting.

This time I went with "be cold towards her at first and become closer later".

Well, when you get to the undercroft there is this conversation about her being lonely.

I expected to get to the part where you tell Serana "I have friends, that's all I need" and she says "And now you have one more".

But she simply didn't ask " What about you?" which would lead to that bit.

If you act indifferent to her at some point, she will also be indifferent to you.

That's one of the reasons I like Serana, despite her impaling me with ice spikes and resurrecting useless creatures *though sometimes I like to think she does that on purpose *. I really hope followers are more fleshed out in the future in FO4 & TES:6.

Despite Interesting NPCs having amazingly fleshed out followers + personal quests, they don't have the choice/consequence dialogue that Serana has *except in some quests... oh boy, some consequences can be quite dire :cryvaultboy:*. Even though she may not have extensive dialouge, she is still one of my favourite vanilla followers... even if she is a complete ripoff of Selene.

I never understood why people say that about her and Selene. Other than both being females, vampires, and have a vaguely similar name, they seem wildly different from each other.

Give Serana blue eyes and remove the braids, and yeah... pretty much a spitting image of Selene. And then theres the Vampire Lord form... :P Underworld references eeeverywhere.

I'd also compare her to that vampire woman from Blade 2.

There was a similar plotline where ambition destroyed a father and daughter relationship.

I dunno, in terms of facial structure, I don't think she looks anything like Kate Beckinsale. I guess the hairstyle is somewhat similar, but personality wise they aren't anything alike.

As for VL form, I admit it looks really similar to the guy from the second Underworld, but I figured they were just going for "humanoid with bat features," which can be traced all the way back to Count Orlok, if not earlier.

I still find her battle taunt funny and unique.

"Back to dust" when fighting draugr.

"You fight worse than you smell"

I find her much to childish as a follower, those are typical teenager problems and there must be an audience for this.

So far I tested Lydia, Zora, Serana (you have to) and Vilja. All behave like advlts, except for Serana who talks about the problems between her 'mom' and 'dad' 0.o

Your parents don't exactly vanish when you grow up.

You still maintain a relationship with them.

Maybe it is the language she uses then?

For some strange reason I cannot take her seriously. Standing in front of her father just before we are about to end his life and saying 'I am not afraid of you any more!' (doing this pose like angry kids with fists in front of the chest) -.-

Using a 'youth' language with some slang words, but mocking me all the time?

This is of course the players decision and not everyone needs to like her, but I try to get rid of her as soon as possible.

p.s. I should not have posted in this thread and my comments are off-topic, sorry :)

I don't mind. It's kinda funny that the devs are aware of how the story might come across.

Serana: Ugh. Saying it like that sounds so... common. Little girl doesn't get along with her father. Heard that story a hundred times.

Judging by the way she falls to her knees and seems disoriented after her container opens, I'm guessing she has been in the vampire equivalent of cryonic preservation. If this is true then she is a teenager, or possibly early 20's. Time has not passed for her.

I think she is remarkably mild-mannered. If I'd experienced the trauma of becoming a Daughter of Coldharbour, had been caught in the middle of a bitter feud between my parents and then imprisoned by my mother without my consent, I'm pretty sure I would be a lot more messed up than she is. For all she has been through I think she is pretty well-behaved.

Yeah, that's actually my problem with her - she's far too even-keeled for what she is supposed to have gone through. She seems so blasé about the Daughter of Coldharbor thing. And despite what she says at your initial meeting, she seems to trust the PC incredibly quickly.

I usually base that down to her being woken up by your blood. Like I said, Underworld references eeeeverywhere :P

I think I have finally heard all of her dialogue, but what still surprises me with her is her interactions with the environment. I have never seen her swaying a tankard left and right with a bard singing. Too bad none of the other followers has that environment interaction when they are following your PC.

Edit: Dammit why can't she be a steward? Marrying would be cool, but I see the tease with Bethesda, but not a Steward? Hell Talvas can become one. :(

Did anyone go to the point where they turned her back to a human? It might be my imagination but I thought she got kinda [censored]y when mortalized. I did it a long time ago so I cannot remember what she said but her voice wasn't so cool and aloof. It surprised me but I was thinking yeah that makes sense. She really did like being a vampire. My only complaint is she is never thirsty when the rest of us vamps have voracious appetites.
