i just posted that i think i have found a fix.do not enter the serial in caps enter the serial in lower case letters

nope....did that still having the problem.

They must be getting things back online. I did a little bit of single player, went back to MP and it prompted me for my serial key again, entered it in lowercase with dashes and I got right in to MP.

Try that and see if it works!

Bought from Direct2Drive. Played some single player without creating a gamesas ID. Entered the serial code, THEN created my ID. Signed in, was told it's invalid trying to join a game. I restart the game, enter the key again (as it hasn't saved) and try again. Same thing. Tried all caps and all lowercase. Both times I included dashes.

I was hesitant to buy this game. Now I'm feeling heavy doses of buyer's remorse.

Serial key is a use in MP.

same here guys, I bought retail version and tried MP right now without having playing SP yet and I kept getting that error, I thought I got hacked but at least I know its not that now

Same.. redeemed my code.. got license, tried to enter, and it says "serial number is invalid"...

lol... This has been one of the most confusing ways to get a game running that I've ever encountered. I certainly hope EA comes up with a better system in the future.

This might be a dumb question, but are you guys entering the "Limited Edition" content code, or the game's serial (on retail on the back of your manual)?

Not sure if Steam gives you 2 keys, but might be worth a look.

I agree with:

Running a quick torrent search, there is a keygen for this game already. Mine was purchased through steam as well (yes, mine is legit). I did the "right" thing and waited for the game to be released and purchased it.

However, having said that... The fact that there IS already a keygen for this game does not bode well. I suspect that the key algorithm will need to be updated and everyone given new keys before this is all said and done.

It seems that the "leaked" version of the game might not have had executable encryption enabled, nor debug threads disabled, thus allowing anyone with a little knowledge of how assembly works to simply observe the key algorithm at work and generate a working keygen.

While I do feel for those of you whose keys don't work, I'd suggest you contact Steam and report the issue, as ultimately, THEY are the ones liable for the sale, not the publishers. The retailers are the ones that have to deal with bad sales.


Crysis should make all people who's emails are attached to their accounts, legitimately(like steam..), and send them new codes that require MORE numbers, and change it's algorithim. thn block all the IP's of the users who are playing ill-legitimately with other's codes.

Also I would NOT recommend changing your key around, that'd be breaking the EULA I'd assume.

Deleting net cookies
All caps w/ dashes
no caps w/dashes
All caps NO dashes

I entered the code in without cap AND without "-" dashes. I entered the cd key once I entered the multiplayer portion of the game. It was not working for me if I entered the CD key at the beginning login screen.

I also restarted STEAM!

I have tried literally every solution I could come up with all day, and this one just worked. EXACTLY as described.

Or it could be whatever pirate has my CD Key stopped playing for the day...

Oh, what a shame.

I was extremely excited to play today, but after filtering through Ranked servers I can only find 3 with any people in them, 2 are full and the 1 that is open gives me "Serial already in use"



*sigh*

What a disappointment

Having the same problem. Its telling me that my serial code is currently in use.
