Seriel code is in use ??

Post » Sun May 15, 2011 11:46 am

Find it odd or not. i had the SAME exact issue AND what i did is that i've changed the key itself.

let's say the last part of my key was xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-qwer , i just changed it for xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx qwet

believe me or not, i works and i'm level 11.. Winchester411 if you want to check strait in the game.

Good luck :)

P.S --- DOES THAT MEAN CRYTEK/EA ISN'T EVEN CHECKING THE KEYS AS WE SPEAK?

I got mine finally working by restarting my PC. Installing CCleaner, and cleaning my PC's registry. Next thing I did was uncheck save login info, entered my key (Caps and dashes). Then re-checked save login info. I've been able to get into servers ever since. Except ranked you know, since they are broken.

Here are 2 fixes that I have found to work, one for steam and one for the non steam version. For the steam Version, go to your games library, right click on Crysis 2, got to properties, click on Local Files, click verify integrity of game cache. Once its done start the game, it will go through the setup process again, and when it comes up it will tell you it needs the product key, put that in got to multiplayer and try it out. If it doesnt work repeat the process, a friend of mine had to do that 3 times before it actually worked. The other fix is for the non steam version its very simple, go to the start button, click on Computer, go to your "C" drive, go into your users folder, go into the folder with your username on it, go into saved games folder, and then Crysis 2 folder. There should be a file in there called game.cfg, delete it, start Crysis 2, put in your Product key and hopefully enjoy multiplay. I have seen both of those methods work, wether they will work for everyone or not remains to be seen. I hope this helps.

did everything, including this post.

nothing works.

screwed by EA again. at this point im not even mad, or suprised. EA are complete failures at everything and this is no different.

Im sure in a few months itll all get sorted out and they can work on crysis 3: the ebola code

CCleaner does the trick. Exit Steam (if that's where you bought it) then you have to run the regular cleaner and the registry cleaner. Next, Log into crysis WITHOUT modifying the key. Make sure it says there is no serial(should be below the login button) Type in your username and password, Go to multiplayer, then when it asks for a key type in your key with lowercase letters and dashes. This worked for me and my friend first try.

I got this and the key not being able to be saved fixed by going to C:\Users\"your user name"\Saved Games right click on crysis2 folder and make sure the read only is not on

After a lot of frustration, this seems to have done the trick for me as well (on Win7 64bit, physical DVD media, not Steam, 'limited edition' content), though I still had to skip the 'MODIFY' link at the opening screen and click through to 'MULTIPLAYER' to get the key (entered all lowercase, no dashes) to be saved after a quit and restart.

Still seems to be some issues on the server-side, however, e.g., the servers running the maps that weren't in the demo let me and other players join, but they don't seem to want to actually start the session.

This fixed it for me, resetting the read only flag on the folder and then re-entering the code at next launch allowed me to enter an online game finally.

Thanks.

Really? I will have to try that.

*EDIT* What a load of bullocks i tried read only unchecked and input my code with dashes then tried joining server and it still shows serial code in use. Then i quit the game and checked the folder and apparently it set to read only itself again. I'm getting really frustrated. I really liked Single Player but i really really wanna play MP. Come on guy someone help me! Is there a way to fix this contraption?! This is frustrating me!

I know.. i'm so pissed off man. I tried EVERYTHING! I deleted cookies.. ccleaner which i use also. Oh also i input all dashes and proper keys and even NO dashes after re-trying. NO luck. Even unchecking Read only folder in save games. Not working. I remember recalling one thing that my firewall was asking me to allow Crysis 2 communicate on Public servers when i first launched the game and i clicked cancelled. I wonder if i should have clicked "allowed" then would the serial code work for multiplayer instead of it saying "SERIAL CODE IN USE." Which is damn rather annoying but it turns out everyone is having the same problem but it still baffles me how some are ABLE to play by doing these little things? Advice?

I really wanna play multiplayer. I don't wanna have to think of reformatting or reinstalling and see if anything did the trick and it'd be a big hassles. Crytek.. seriously look into this issue, you're making us feel like muppets here.

Dude that's a false alarm. AVG svcks big time. Lots of people have the same false error from AVG. It's not a virus at all.

In another thread someone suggested creating a new profile (in the single player menu) then going to multiplayer. This worked for me.

HUH?
Create a new profile?
Meaning we'd have to make a new account you mean? I'm confused. I want more proof.

Ok i did what you guys said, create a new profile.. STILL SAME ERROR. JEEZ! Did you delete your default profile and make a new one? Or what?! I'm stuck trying to fix this crap for like a hour and half now and no achievement yet. Come on guys.. work with me here so we can help people in this community if they have the same problems? Any ideas?

Same problem for me. I've activated my limited edition bonuses, which is linked to my email address, I think. So if I were to create a new profile, would I lose the limited edition bonuses?

You don't have to create a account but creating a profile will work with the limited edition cuz you still have to input the cd key anyways. PROBLEM is i still see "Serial Code is in use." Kinda annoying and i spent the last 1 and 1/2 hr and counting right now trying to de-bunk this damn thing.

I guess worst case scenario is that EA realizes some idiot in China who printed the manuals forgot/didn't realize that each serial should only be printed once. lol

Worked for me, but as soon as I joined a game, my LE unlocks were gone. At least I can get into multiplayer matches now, though

Thank you Tom. Give me a peace of mind right now.. i guess i will refrain from doing anything to make it work. Yes that "Serial Code is in use" is rather strange. Let us know what was the cause of it. Thanks.. Guess i'll have to wait out on multiplayer. Guess it's back to Single player lol.

@Cry-Tom:

Can you guys please automatically PM everyone with the solution you lot come up with to the Serial Code issue please? I don't want to have to dig around this website tomorrow looking for it. (I'm assuming it'll be fixed tomorrow/today.)

Well the "delete profile & create a new one" trick did it for me. Wasn't able to join a match yet since the server froze on us, but at least I got into the lobby and my LE bonuses seem to be still present. Will try a bit later. For now, it's back to Shogun 2 TW for me.
