Serious FPS issue

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 9:56 am

Hi, I'm new here and I recently downloaded Morrowind Overhaul 2.0 to my Steam Morrowind GOTY. It downloaded perfectly fine and I had no issues with that but when I get into the game the FPS is ridiculous. At first I selected medium pc in the installer and chose the Rev 186 in the MGSO, but the interiors FPS was only about 6 and when I stepped outside it dropped to about 0.6. So I changed up some settings like I went to Rev 178 and lowered some settings on the Distant Land. There was little to no difference at all. So I went with the slow PC option and interiors did not improve but the exteriors went from about 0.6 to 3.6, better, but still not playable. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

My pc is a Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit 2 gb RAM.
My graphics card is GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Distant Land settings:
Draw Distance - 5
Distant Blur strength - 2
Water Reflection - Only Landscape
Fog: Above water start - 1 Above water end - 5
Below water start - 0 Below water end -1
Distant Statics: Min size near - 400, far - 600, very far 800,
End dist near - 1, far - 2, very far - 4

I'm sorry to say that your Graphics Card isn't good enough even for the Slow settings. :(
The only thing that you can do at this point is to disable distant lands.

Would I have to buy a new card for this or is it possible to just update to a much better one from the website?

You can download newer Nvidia drivers, but you may be better off not running MGE with Distant Lands with that card.

Yeah, with distant lands on my pc with a DD of 3, I still only had like 10 fps at the most in balmora. I just won't use MGSO until I get my new PC. Maybe you should do the same...

I just wont use it and download smaller individual mods to make it look a bit better.

Wow, I decided to see just how that card compares to others and darn, I cant believe those are still around with people wanting to upgrade as late as last year. In fact, I am not even sure why they would make a card like this as it just plain svcks, even compared to other cards at that time(my laptop card came out the same year (2007) and is still considered high end, haha; indeed, it will run games of today fine; Starcraft 2 on medium settings for example)

That said, if you have a bit of money, it certainly wouldnt be hard/expensive to replace this "card" with one that is even many times better.(I still dont get it, this thing is like just a step up from integrated graphics)
