I ran into some serious lag while playing Oblivion a while back. I posted a thread about it in the General Discussion forum, but decided to post it here in the hopes that I could get some help on how to fix this issue, or to see if anyone else has encountered this problem.
Just for clarification so there's no confusion, this is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5Th Anniversary Edition on the PS3.
I started a second playthrough in Oblivion, and got as far as closing the Oblivion Gate out side of Kvatch and finding Martin. I escorted him to Weynon Priory and then escorted him and the monk to the Blades HQ. I then decided to go back to Kvatch to see if there was anything I had missed on my first playthrough. I found that there was a quest to retake Castle Kvatch, so I took the quest. After going through the chapel doors that lead to the castle, the game slowed to an unbelievable crawl. The lag is erratic, it comes and goes. On top of that, there is a constant wave of Dremora archers and Mages above the main gate, causing the city guard Captian and his second in command to be locked in combat mode. I've tried saving, quitting, and reloading, but that doesn't help at all. I went back into the chapel to see if that would work, but no luck.
At the moment, I'm not sure what to do. I want to finish this quest, but it's so agonizingly slow, I want to pull my hair out. And it's because of this lag that I haven't gone back. Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful. Thanks.
