I've been going through all the sermons trying to decipher lately, and my current obsession is the Scripture of Numbers: Sermon 29.
Why is the enantiomorph, numbered 2, the number 68, for example?
It is pretty clear why "1. The Dragon Break, or the Tower," is 1.
The third, ALMSIVI, is 112. Ayem, Seht, Twice Vehk.
4. The Corners of the House of Troubles. 242
The 2's are corners of the 4 symbolizing the house being built and unable to stand without each one of its corners.
9. The Missing. 11
1 and 1. Sermon 11 explains this fairly well, and it is common knowledge among those who have at least studied the sermons a little bit. If not, search around for the rebel and king bit.
18. The Egg, or Six Times the Wise.
This is the number of Vehk. It doesn't have a number that follows it for as he says later in Sermon 29:
"The effigies of numbers are their current applications; this is folly, as above. To be affixed to a symbol is too, too certain."
So I'm finding that numbers play a huge role in the symbolism of the series and I'm looking for everybody's thoughts and theories about the remainder (there's a lot I don't understand). Is there any numbers that we don't the meaning of?
