Serpents are confirmed!

Post » Fri Dec 04, 2009 6:12 am

More like 5 - 9 cm... :P

We'll probably see snakes several meters long and wide, otherwise they won't pose a threat.

Well bunnies are confirmed, so unless it's the "The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog" then I don't think every animal has to pose a threat.

I wonder how many people are going to refuse to play this game due to its concentration of the most common phobias in the world...

A "serpant" isn't necessarily a snake.

dismemberment? highly doubt it... didnt they already mention they didnt want to take the violence to fallout's level?

there will be blood and finishing moves, but definitely not dismemberment... too bad, i'd love to decapitate a giant, and de-leg a troll... then play with the dismembered parts.

anyway, serpents... snakes would be kinda hard to see, wouldnt they? ...maybe they mean serpent-like dragons? wyrms/wyverns?

or... water serpents? nessie?

Eh I think they meant they wanted gore to be more realistic than in Fallout, I'm pretty sure dismemberment is in.

As long as we're having a definition war... "a noxious creature that creeps, hisses, or stings" - the first definition from Merriam-Webster.

Oh, so pretty much anything with a sting, that makes a hissing noise, or moves slowly? That's a pretty diverse definition. My car is a serpent too!

Those are a must. Unlike creatures on the land sea creatures can be truly terrifying because we humans are helpless in the water. :D

Dark dungeons?

I guess snakes could probably be defeated by running around them? I don't think that they can turn and attack fast.

Not to be negative, but what is this site's source for that confirmation? How is this any more conclusive than if some random guy on the forums said "serpents are confirmed" and left it at that, without backing up the claim whatsoever?

I highly doubt a small site like gamerant has any exclusive access, so unless this info comes directly from an interview, eyes-on preview or officially released media, I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Also, some of their info is plainly false, such as: "If you land a clean hit on a foe, they will take additional damage over time." - That only happens with the bleeding perk for axes.

The serpents can eat the rabbits.

And snakes can be anywhere from a few inches/centimeters long to a few yards/meters. We had one as long as my arm crawl out from under a pile of wood just a few days ago and I live in a relatively urban district in the Great Lakes region (roughly).

Y'all might try a state park or something. They're not all that exotic.

I think they are talking about http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/115/1158651/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-20110330052317887.jpg

"Ice wraiths are these serpentine beings that form out of the winds." Howard explains. "They're terrifying" - Gameinformer

Basically they mistook Ice Wraiths and Serpents as different creatures, I think.

Smaller, venomous, snakes tend to be the more dangerous and kill more people than larger constrictors. I've heard that large constrictors often wait on overhanging branches, waiting for their prey to pass below, they then drop down onto their prey, crushing them to the ground before wrapping around them and crushing them to death. Now this would be a cool thing to happen in Skyrim. :foodndrink:
