Server Pre-order question

Question for Crytek,

If i pre-order a server (PC), will it be online during the beta stage for testing, bug reporting and so on or not?

There is no Beta on any platform. It has only ever been announced as a Demo.

You'd be better off asking the server provider in which you'd be pre-ordering the server from as to when their server will be available.

I think that for the demo, the companies themselves that were given the dedicated server code will put up servers, but whatever server you pre-order will not go online until March 22. So the server names will look like "Gameservers Chicago Crash Site 32" or "Hypernia Dallas TIAction 223" instead of specific user-rented names for the demo.

Atleast, this is how the Bad Company 2 Beta worked. :)

My apologies, when i mentioned "beta" i was referring to the Demo that would be released on March 1st. I understand how some words can turn out to have different meanings, my apologies once more.

I will be contacting my server providor (Gameservers) and ask them directly regarding this.

Not an issue, just wanted to clear any confusion :) A Beta is typically an early release that is expected to be buggy and the developers ask for people to make bug reports and any issues relating to the game. A Demo is usually a much more stable version of the game, later in release where reports aren't typically expected but more gameplay feedback is requested :)

Let us know how you go with GameServers.

I'm not going to say "yes you will be able to" on behalf of server providers on the off-chance that you won't be able to. It puts me in a bad position for being wrong and it puts them in a bad position for not delivering when i said they would. That's why i suggested they be the ones to ask. I'll see if i can get any information regarding it, if i can, i'll update this thread.

Cheers

Adam,

I am clear with regards to the difference between a demo and a beta. I was probably in a hurry typing so i made that mistake of mentioning demo instead of beta.

my apologies again.
