Set ownership on door?

Post » Fri Feb 19, 2016 3:22 am

With the new settlement DLC, can we set ownership on doors? Like if we want to create a private house with no settler in it, can we set a door ownership, so they won't come in. I go to sleep and wake up seeing Marcy Long sipping tea next to me. It's even more creepy I had a romance companion next to me when I go to sleep. I would also be cool if we could set the items and won't see them fall in ruin after coming back.

I'd settle for doors remaining closed.

A settler went into my throne room once and stole a fusion core, the curr!

So yes. Lockable doors would be good.

I agree with the door problem. I built a nice home and kept coming home to find some NPC using my workbenches. Some were also sleeping in my bed, but when I caught them doing that I'd manually assign them one of the beds I made for the settlement.

I moved the FT mat to inside the house and considered just replacing the door with a wall. I could still get out by just going upstairs and jumping off the balcony I have up there. But I assumed the game would just randomly spawn someone inside my house anyway so I never bothered.

I'd also like some support's added. Like when you have a walkway from one building to another it's just kind of, floating in mid air which can look a bit strange. Support's would give the allusion there's something holding it up there.

Having lockable doors would be great.

I assume (hope) that if I can't just walk into a building I build then neither can they so in my Sanctuary home, I built it up a foot or so. I have to jump to get in which is okay. I only have 1 settler there anyway....., Shefield and he's too busy tending my crops...err landscaping.

There's a mod for PC users called Auto Doors which close doors with a buildable hinge, there's also keypads and auto sensors to detect NPCs in range and open it and close afterwards. Hopefully Console modding will come soon.

If your on the PC, simply select your doors with the console command so the ID is selected. Enter "lock 10" without the quotes and now the door is locked with a novice lock. Not only do you gain experience unlocking your own door with a bobbypin, it keeps everyone else out.

I do this for my homes in settlements. Keeps me from having to constantly re-assign settlers to beds because they wanted to use mine instead. Or from sitting in my livingroom and reading my magazines while I'm away. Go find your own Grognak the Barbarian comic books... sheesh

I've still had settlers spawn just by locking the door with commands. They'll spawn inside and stay there because they can't get back out. I haven't had that issue with Auto Doors plus open doors and gates annoy me so having them close by themselves is awesome.

If you want to have a house for player only, you may also set beds as owned as well, or else settlers will try to enter the house or just stand outside waiting when it's bed time.

Another thing you can do is store your own bed and it will force NPCs to seek out the next bed. Then plop it back down.

I assign guards to my bed. They never use it anyway and it keeps the bed free of any new settlers.

For a little while there I was blocking the door with a suit of power armor when I went out. :)

Now I just don't try to set up shop in a place with settlers. I reserve a handful of settlement locations for personal use.

Agreed. It would be a welcome feature to have the ability of keeping settlers out of my custom built home. It does become slightly annoying when I find a settler inside my house grabbing hard-earned stuff off of the shelves.

I know! Anytime I stand still, Dogmeat immediately scurries around opening very door or gate he can find within range. We have been given a dog with a OCD complex for opening portals.

And doors or gates enemies can't open. I stopped bothering installing gates when a mirelurk opened it and just ran in.

Once helping that dog, he will spawn / follows you any location possible. Seems like Bethesda did a light version of Oblivion's Adoring Fan!

Bethesda devs: No more :obliviongate: stuffs. Thanx

Hah, unlike that fan, you can't just knock him off a cliff ad move on with your life either, he's always gonna be there.

Yes, alot of videos on youtube. Fargoth, Adoring Fan, Gaenor, Cicero and M'aiq the liar. Bethesda have their own way to annoy players. Got an issue with our "game features" ... here is something worse :-)
