Well, I guess after making three derivative animated sitcoms about a dysfuctional family, it's only natural that he tackles the prototypical one.

A dream-come-true, reportedly, for MacFarlane, a mega-saurus Flintstones fan.

translated subtitles for the foreign:

He's gonna [censored] it up.

I like Family Guy and all, but I hope he's not going to dumb it down. I guess we'll see what happens.

Sounds like it could be good. I even enjoyed the Cleveland Show (and I really didn't want to) so I still trust him...

OH GOD. Not anthoer reboot, remake or anything. Can't anyone come up with something original? Just goes to show you how people don't have any new creativity now. Just goes to show you that Hollywood can't come with nothing new anymore, and all they can do is just rehash or reboot franchises now.

How about the Jetsons meets Married with children, the animated series?

isnt family guy essentially a "reboot* (shudders at the sound of theword) of the flintstones/Honeymooners anyway?

I dig some family guy, even american dad and the clevland show on occasion, but redoing the flintstones is not a good idea..
i mean, part of its charm was that it was kind of "world of tomorrow" only in reverse which made it really fit the 50's. i just dont think it fits today and dont want to se it morphed into something that its not.

Maybe dumb down isn't the right phrase. I just don't want him to [censored] it up. Just because he's a huge fan doesn't mean he will do the cartoon justice. I don't want to just see Family Guy with dinosaurs.

I was thinking that. As pointed out in a Family Guy episode, The Flintstones' primary source of jokes is 'rock' puns.

Oh please NO. Don't give them any ideas. :whistling:

I believe it was, it was a reboot of Flinstones/Honeymooners but it was done in an original way. So why does he have to touch the originals? Yes I can understand as a personal project he would love to do it, but as a consumer I don't really care for it. I am sick and tired of reboots and remakes. So it's great for him since he loves the Flinstones he would like to do something with it, but as a consumer I am dead set against it.

I'm really nervous about this. One of the comments made me laugh however.

"MacFarlane doing a cartoon about a over-weight middle aged man with a red headed wife? Sounds familiar"

I like Family Guy and American Dad has a few funny episodes but this just seems like an odd choice.

He should just leave well enough alone. This kinda reminds me of the Flintstones Kids. Not horrible, but couldn't quite live up to the original. I did like Captain Caveman though.

Instead of reusing an old idea, which is far too common these days, he should come up with something new and interesting. Leave the classics alone.

Not sure how I feel on this. On one hand, Seth is obviously very talented, and quite personable. However, he sure loves to milk Family Guy and the done to death set up it's become. It couldn't be worse than Family Guy, which will probably make him a ton of money any ways, but I sure hope he can do something good, new, or at least more interesting with it.

I don't think this is as outlandish as it seems. Seth McFarlane managed to succeed where Hannah & Barberra failed - the Flinstones was supposed to be a cartoon for advlts, but they couldn't make it work.
