How high can you build, I have a feeling that it depends cause I have had it max out at 5 levels at Tenpines but over at Abernanthy Farms I have a building that's 6 levels high.

Max is 6 floors but you can play with height after you build a complete structure by selecting the entire thing and moving it- it lets you put things in places you would not normally build piece by piece. There's a good vid about this- if I track it down I'll post the link.

This is what I keep seeing from numerous posters. HOWEVER, my current character has a Charisma of 6, so the settler max per settlement should be only 16. Yet, I have one settlement with 26 settlers, and several more with >16.

1- conventional formula is 10+charisma, but many people inc me, have more settlers than that. I have char 7, implying. 17 max. But even if char clothing wasnt temporary (+4 from clothes), max should be 21 for me, yet i have many settlements with 23 pop.

So i believe the formula is a minimum, not maximum. E.g. Without high happiness. 10+char is all you get, but you get bit more it seems for happier settlements. At least thats been my xp.

2- max height is totally per settlement dependent. It depends on where the border was set by the devs. In places like hangman's alley, the incisible height ceiling is pretty low. At oberland station, i wa able to build a 4 story floating castle on top of the already elevated peak of the existing tower.

max settlers is your current charisma not raw charisma

eg my raw charisma is 6 so max is 16, i had 18 settlers in sanctuary (already above my raw cha max due to charisma buffs) and wanted to send a new settler there, it was ofcourse greyed out so i donned my charisma gear bringing my charisma stat to 10 and then i was able to send her there.

incidently i had forgotton to turn my radio beacon off from ages ago and while i was sending her there another settler turned up in sanctuary as soon as i increaed my charisma

so the max settlers is 10+ your current modified charisma (i actually though was 11+ cha for some reason?)

happiness has made no effect to that in my game, my max settlers was 10+cha when i was at the 60%ish happiness and max settlers are still 10+cha at 92% happiness

the thing is if you are at a shop say so you don your charisma gear and maybe even pop some graqe mentats, and you have left your settlement beacon on after reaching max (i forget to turn off all the time) all of a sudden you can end up with way more settlers because of the charisma boost

Special Ops had 62 settlers. Still not sure how it happened. But yeah, you can boost your charisma through the roof with alcohol and chems. So that might have had something to do with it.

For my game at least, this is still incorrect. Yes - charisma buffs do count.

But even if those buffs werent temporary, i still have more settlers than 10 + charisma + ALL charisma clothes/buffs combined.

With char 7 and clothing +4, i have many settlements are 23 pop. According to your definition of 10+char+buffs, my max should be 21. Where am i getting the extra settlers from?

In my xp, only settlements with~85+happiness exceed my normal pop. So cant say for sure happoness boosts it, but sure seems that way. Regardless what it is though - the less arguable is I and others have more settlers than 10+char +buffs formula implies.

If what you say is true, how could one of my settlements have a pop of 26? My raw Charisma is 6. The most pluses I ever had on at one time gave me +5 = 11. Add the 10 and the total is 21. Yet, I have 26 settlers in one of my settlements.

So basically we don't really know why but you can have like 20-something settlers.

there does seem to be some weird issues with this game where thing s are different to some

such as theres someone on here who all his containers restock items in the settlements including overwriting any stuff he has stored there

in my case i can guarantee the formula purely by the fact i constatntly forget to turn my beacon off, when im at max no one else turns up and my max is 16 (cha 6) but as soon as i don my cha gear i will get more turning up

on all settlements regardless of happiness for me in my game it stops at 16 no matter how long i leave my beacon on and i cannot send anyone to any that have reached 16

as soon as i don my charisma gear not only can more turn up but i can send more, and not only that once i hit my 10+boosted cha i cant send anymore (tested)

dont know what to say regarding yours? what platform you on? im on xbox one

do you use any mods?

if console digital download or physical?

if pc maybe try verify files? or uninstall/reinstall? or if digital console download mybe delete and re download install?

there really does seem to be some odd things were people are experiencing opposite ways things work in this game, it is weird

speak of the devil lol :)

you are the one that has the issue of your settlement containers restocking arent you?

have you ever used graqe mentats? they give +5

so 10+6+5(clothes)+5(mentats)=26

Yep that's me. Containers also work the same for my wife in her game. (She has her own copy of the game on her PC on the other side of our Computer Room.)

No, I never use the vast majority of chems. Occasional RadX, Radaway, and Stimpacks. For everything else I use food items that I cook up myself. My best Charisma boost consisted of Rex Goodman's Suit +3, Fashionable Glasses +1, and Trilby Hat +1. I check my SPECIAL stats on the Pip-Boy on occasion, and the highest it has ever read has been 11.

just so so odd that different players are experiencing what should be a one rule for all?

i dont have any idea whats going on? is the settlement greygarden? cause although they robots show as "settlers" they dont use food or beds and i always wondered what that would mean for max settlers?

but i guess enjoy the extra settlers :)

Weeeellll, one of my theories has to do with the Random Number Generators used on different PCs and consoles. Like a roulette wheel on an uneven table, some numbers tend to come up more often than not. This aspect could very well affect why one person on his PC is noticeably "lucky" so often while running the exact same program is decidedly "unlucky". It would seem that the Roman goddess Fortuna really, really does NOT like you.
