Post » Tue Mar 16, 2010 2:07 pm

When I double-click something it opens in a NEW windows recently, I checked the setting and IT WAS CORRECT! It's a [censored] virus! [censored] WHOEVER CREATED IT!!! Someone please tell me what should I do! AND PLEASE for [censored]'s sake don't tell me to use anti-virus! I WILL NOT use one AT ALL, so please just tell me what happened to the registry and how to fix it.

If you refuse to use anti-virus, then install Linux. Otherwise, install an anti-virus.

Why not download an anti-virus and then use it to get rid of your problem then get rid of the anti virus? Why is that so hard, and getting rid of a virus manually requires an expert technical level, potential programming skill, and the mind of a hacker. Something I doubt many here possess even one of let alone all three.

Should have an anti-virus on any computer that connects to another computer

Believe me, unless you are a computer pro, don't mess with the registry. And since you had ask what to edit in the registry, don't mess with the registry, it can [censored] you worse than a virus. That said, if you refuse to use an antivirus you really only have one option: Take it to a computer repair shop.

Oh, and stop looking at porm. :P

EDIT: But things just open in a new window? Doesn't really sound like any virus I've ever heard of. That's another reason to get a good anitivirus - so you know if it really is a virus or not.

Because many Anti-Viruses can't just esaily disposed! For example, Kaspersky [censored] up Windows Installer when unistalled thus preventing you from installing some programs! :brokencomputer:

It IS a virus 'cause I detected it and [censored] it myself! I can't spotted it anymore but it took it's revenge on the system!!!

You have said many, but not ALL. So go and find an anti-virus or shut up and make peace with your computer. Alternatively take it to an amazing computer pro, and not some retarded Futureshop employee. Be ready to shell out the cash for someone who has the skills to manually remove a virus.

Dude, just get a freaking antivirus. Or take it to a shop. And then get an antivirus. If you use the internet at all it's pretty dumb not to have an antivirus program installed.

He could also reformat, but I guess that's out of the question. Although that would be far safer than editing registry.

Then dont use Kaspersky?

Just install another Anti-Virus mate. Both avast! and AVG are free and work fine. Also use something like Malwarebtyes (which is also free) alongside it. These programs wont stuff Windows and are perfectly safe. Honestly, all you're gunna get is us telling you to install an anti-virus. Dont go messing with your registry, dont even try, in all likelihood you'll truly bugger it up. Just install a bloody AV.

So a virus that makes it to where you open something in a new window or an antivirus that may or may not slow down your computer temporarily?

Such a hard choice......

Dude, don't mess with the registry. Even if you think you want to take the risk - you don't. The slightest mistake can [censored] your PC up worse than any virus. Just take it to a shop. And then get an antivirus, it will save you a lot of trouble.

Seriously, do this. And you really should have had an antivirus in the first place.

step one: use system restore to your last windows update before the virus.

step two: spend a little money and buy norton anti-virus, yeah its anti-virus and yeah it cost money, but it works and doesnt slow down your computer or mess it up, trust me ive been using it for years and its a life saver.

yeah, you really should get anti-virus right away.
Or do not use internet.

edit - If you have used registry before you should know where it is?
Anyway I would not advice you to poke around if you don't really know what you are doing.

Reformat your system and install anti-virus, or reformat and never use internets again. Simple

My buggery sense is also tingling here. I doubt the OP is telling us everything. Sounds more like someone looking for us to tell a way to mess up someone elses registry to be honest. :stare:

Even if that's all you've ever had go wrong when editing the registry, that doesn't mean worse things couldn't happen. Please, just do yourself and us a favor and take it to a shop, have them fix it, and then install an antivirus.
