Setting VideoMemorySizeMb

Post » Thu Aug 20, 2015 1:04 am

I've been trying to install the true vision enb, however I got stuck at this step

"Open enblocal.ini and set the VideoMemorySizeMb parameter (e.g. VRAM + RAM - 2048)"

My total available Graphics Memory is 1635 MB, dedicated video memory - 256 MB and 4 GB Ram and I don't know how to complete this:

ReservedMemorySizeMb=???
VideoMemorySizeMb=???? // VRAM + RAM - ????

Any help would be much appreciated as I have no idea what I'm doing.

Don't set it higher than your VRAM. That is what most recommend.

Thank you for the reply, I was going to do this:

ReservedMemorySizeMb=128
VideoMemorySizeMb=1635 // VRAM + RAM - 2048

I wonder if it would work

Why do you want to change the defaults? Having issues with the game? In 33 years of playing games on my workstation, I never worried about changing the settings. My 6970 has 3 GB of RAM, 16GB of RAM on the workstation. Textures load fine on the video adapter with 3GB of RAM. Most games don't load enough to affect your 1635 MB of VRAM.

It doesn't hurt to try those settings to see if they work in-game.

Well, the guide I typically use http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENBlocal_INI/Memory, suggests that "ReservedMemorySizeMb" be set to 128 for cards that have 1GB of VRAM or more and increased in increments of 128 if stuttering in-game persists. Edit: Seeing as your VRAM is 256 MB of RAM, the 2 settings you'd want would be either 64 or 128.

For the VideoMemorySizeMb setting the formula is: 256(Your VRAM)+4096(Your System RAM)-2048=2304

I'm having trouble following you, Daniela.

How much VRAM does your graphics card have? Iriodus seems to think you said you have 256 MB, which is a tiny amount, and no way should you even be considering an ENB if this is the case.

For the settings in ENBlocal, you wrote that you would try "VideoMemorySizeMb=1635 // VRAM + RAM - 2048", as if that's what you would actually write. That's the FORMULA, not what you would put in the file. In the file, it would just be a number, like "VideoMemorySizeMB = 2048" or something. You use the formula they give you to arrive at the number.
