Settlement building on PC... Clipping does not work

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 7:23 am

Trying to build a house around the tree in Sanctuary and I am wanting to use the clipping trick where you select multiple pieces and they will clip the tree. Is this something that has been patched? I have seen several videos of it working but I cannot for the life of me get it to work.

Any suggestions?

I think you have to turn off collision via the console (tcl) for it to work.

yeah, TCL is NOT necessarily for this; I did it and built a tree house all around and through the tree in the culdesac. One thing to consider is that the piece you grab and push/drag has to be in a legit building spot (I like building concrete push columns for this type of thing that I remove later, and that if you go too wide and start hitting other obstacles there could still be a restriction on the build.

I seem to be in a good place. If I can ever figure out how to post images, I'll show you what I have.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL2OmN9sXLYmay be just for you.

Edit: When moving stuff with this mod there is a slight graphical glitch where an object placed this way will look like its "vibrating" but can be easily fix by picking up the the object and hitting tab to drop it back in place, or loading the save.

Here's the house I was able to fix at the something-tour marina: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/367408151962150833/B919EC92569F68502AE6365C04CDD03810F2BB7C/

For some reason I can't get this to work in F4. If I could it would be incredible...

Make sure to have some kind of mod installer, such as Nexus Mod Manager. Even more so, download the plugin Manager, since it might be based on a plugin that doesn't enable the usual way.

You still need a plugin manager if it uses a plugin. At least I need it, since the sweet spot under the left eye of the power armor doesn't work in my case - even though I edited the ini long time ago.

You gotta install autohotkey to get Precision Mod to work.

This is an external mod run though the program called https://autohotkey.com/. what is does is make it so one can write a script, in this case the modder made one for FO4 that makes it so that if you were to say press the + key on your number pad, it puts and enters the line "Modpos z 5" when you have the console open. What it does is basically hot key the modpos console commands to your numberpad. So instead of having to manually type out "modpos y -50" or something like that to move a selected item, it's bound to a single key stroke (or 10 technically because it by default moves an item by units of 5). But still way faster than typing it out.

The mod itself isn't actually a FO4 mod at all, it's script for the program above. That's why it's a manual download. As far as I can tell, Autohotkey has noting sketchy going on like adware or annoying secondary programs. If you are comfortable with getting it, get it, and download the mod. Find it in your downloads and place the file: Fallout4_move.ahk anywhere you like, in a folder, on your desktop, and all you have to do is double click it to run the program.

EDIT: Also be wary you can move non player placed items too such as NPC's, boulders, cars, pre-placed houses etc... My strategy around that is A) Make multiples saves often. B )Click on any objects you DON'T want to move such as the house I was building inside of so I can see it's ID, and thus know if I clicked on the wrong thing so you don't accidently raise the walls in the castle by an inch or something. :goodjob:

You also have to activate The hotkey mod each time you want to use it....Its a separate executable.

Its really easy to use and I haven't had issues moving houses and such.

Built a really sweet Dockside Bar with fencing, sandbags, well the works really.

You can use the up and down arrows on the keyboard (not the number pad arrows) to scroll through previously typed in commands in the consul, get the one you want, hit enter. Saves having to retype a command.

Ok, so I installed AHK and downloaded Freemove. I installed it in F4 with the Nexus Mod Manager by using 'Add Mod from File.' So now what? I place an piece of fence, exited then opened the console, selected the item, and started trying to manipulate it with the + and number pad keys, but no joy.

I tried this mod too:

- installed autohotkey

- Start game

- going to Desktop

- double click on autohotkey from the nexus mod

- going Ingame again

- planting a Object

- open Console

- mark the Object until i get an ID

- and then using the Numpad Keys

- if ur ready, just close the Console

Its a good Mod, but to bad the Game need this Function directly in the Settlement Buildingsystem so we can adjust Objects in realtime. Its a bit slow in the Console.

No, you do not use NMM to run this mod. The mod does not involve it at all, it's a script for an external program. That's why it isn't working, because it technically isn't a mod. You can have Fallout4_Move.ahk sitting on your desktop and it would work. What you are supposed to do is double click on the Fallout4_Move.ahk file itself wherever you put it to run it, and play the game as normal.

EDIT: Also Freemove is the name of the zip file you get when downloading it, you are supposed to pull out this file inside it and use that: http://i.imgur.com/36ZT2wx.png

Ok, extracted the file, double clicked it and saw it in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen.

Started F4 and loaded the character.

Opened the workshop menu and placed a bed

Closed the workshop menu

Opened the console

Clicked on the bed to get the number

Clicked 6666666

Nothing moved and the console read 6666666

I realize this will be easy as pie once it's figured out, but I am obviously missing a step somewhere.

You don't have to click on the number itself, just the object itself and be sure you are using the number pad on the right end of your keyboard. Also I Noticed that many of the player placed IDs start with ff, so you may not have selected the bed. And you watched thehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL2OmN9sXLY so see the guy doing it right?

I did. How do I know AHK is running?

Edit: My mistake, I didn't mean 66666666 was on the screen, I mean that was the button I pushed.

You can view it in your taskbar like this: http://i.imgur.com/sEYInSl.png

Try selecting other objects, because that 6666666 ID number is super strange, any new player placed item IDs read out as (ff"random numbers") and and player placed items that were there when save loaded read out as (ff"random numbers")[PP].

On Windows it usually puts an icon in your taskbar when running. Probably a hidden one unless you have it set to show.

Didn't mean 6666666 was the number ID. It did begin with 'ff00 something...'

Yes, it is showing in the task bar.

honestly then I don't know how else to help you. You got autohotkey. You double clicked on the .ahk file. Ran the game, loaded your save, opened the console, clicked on the object you want to move and pressed the corresponding keys to move it while the console was open and nothing happened?
