Settlement Building Tips

So I'm sure a lot of people are going crazy trying to do some precision building, with the clipping and snapping issues, I got some tips to help with that.

When placing a wall or floor if you do not want it to snap look down at the ground more until your cursor is off the object, then you can move it closer to other objects without it snapping beside them.

Also if your having a hard time building a fence against other objects and your gaps are ending up too big use the same trick as above and their outlines will turn green even though there clipping, this lets you place them much closer to bushes and houses then you normally can and close up those nasty gaps.

Bonus tip thanks to many people in these forums, raiders will not steal power armor without fusion cores so take those cores out when your leaving suits in settlements.

Final tip everyone should already know, without any perks you get much less materials back for scrapping objects so when your working on a design try not to scrap anything till its done, just put the extra objects aside that you might need again.

Stay safe wanderers.

Another building tip:

If you can't place a wall perpendicular to an already existing wall (usually in the corners), try placing a roof and then try to attach the wall perpendicularly, it works like a charm.

I just wish there was a button to turn off snapping. Bethesda should have just played Kerbal Space Program for a while to see how to build 3D objects in a game. I can spend HOURS building stuff in that game now and not get peeved off (but it wasn't always that way).

I'm hoping that they will improve the building editor. This is my list of things I would personally like to see.

1. Snapping Toggle Button

2. Indicator to show which settlers do not have a job

3. Option to Auto Assign an object to an unassigned settler.

4. Let Preston wear power armour on patrol. How about a room where you can put power armour for any NPC to use. If attacked they can climb into the spare Power armour and put it back when alarm ends.

5. Electrical systems should only need one connector to power entire house. As it is you need multiple for some weird reason that makes no sense.

6. Let us ANGLE items so they don't appear to hang in mid-air (may be a problem with the game engine though).

7. Fix the darn bug that causes crap to fall through shelves and floor when you leave and return to a settlement. I've lost some really cool stuff because of this.

Also, if you put the floor down first, walls snap into place just fine.
