Settlement Clincs - Rad Removal

Post » Sat Mar 12, 2016 7:25 pm

Here is something that has bugged me for quiet a while.

Sometimes, when I have a very low rad count, around 2-5 maybe, I seek out my Settler Doc, who runs the clinic (tier 4) and ask them to remove my rads. I fork out 40 caps for the service. Yet, my rads are never fully gone.

My health bar still stays visible. I drink a bottle of water to fill up the HP meter, yet, it seems that there is always a sliver of rads left. Maybe my settlers are not fully qualified to "play doctor" and can only remove ONE rad at a time or what? Anyone know how much rads this service should actually remove? Or is this a bug? (playing on PC btw.)

I actually never go back and just end up using a Rad Away anyway. Maybe next time I see how many "sessions" it will take to fully remove 5 rads.

Need to also test this with an "actual" doc, like the traveling one or the one in DC.

Have you been hit by the mole rat disease from Vault 81? i hear that one puts a sliver of red in your health bar which never ever goes away.

Good morning! SPOILER ALERT Vis VAULT 81 --general knowledge spoilage-- included in text!

Am on Windows 10 PC. 1st real FO4 game, currently level 36, have not found Vault 81.

Do not have any settlements with clinics (doing minimum settlement work, just started Minutemen 4 levels ago).

I routinely use BoS, RR and Institute Docs, rarely Diamond City's since I only go there to sell if can't do so nearer to where I am going.

I have experienced the remnant sliver of rads from RR/Institute/BoS and DC Docs on a fairly frequent rate [at least 30% of the time at mid-level difficulty (have tried to "modify the system by going normal difficulty before the Doc treats me and this does not seem to affect the rate of sliver though it might affect the size of it so I quit doing that early on after I noticed the problem. Note that it does not seem to happen as frequently when I use my own RADAWAY, but it does occur about 10-15% of the time (WAG, no stats taken)] --frustrating when I had a low hit point level. Since I have not found nor been to V81 and often heal to full HPs, I know I do not have mole rat disease (which was a spoiler I read about and now know about, that's life).

I guess the meds and Docs of the future are no better than the ones of the present, their cures are often haphazard, despite (hopefully) their best intentions (blame big (small) pharma or their FDA? Obviously, it can't be BIG government in FO4!).

Good hunting! regards, RC

I have had the same but with the doctor in DC, and it is not molerat disease as I have not even been to vault 81 in the play through so far.

Through 800 hours of play, I have ONLY seen this happen when I had the Molerat disease, on my very first character.
