Settlement Ideas

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:29 am

I would like to have the ability to create my own caravan/trading company - i want to provide/sell/trade goods and rival entities like the Far Go Traders or the Gun Runners or the Crimson Caravan... I want to buy cheap and sell cheaper than them. Then i want them to come after my caravans, which of course would be heavily guarded.

They can raid your settlement, so I don't see why they can't attack your caravans...

Definitely! I can see myself spending hours just screwing around with the customization systems this game is supposed to have (I admit it usually takes me at least 1.5 hours with the character creator before I'm happy with the way my character looks. I'm a bit OCD, what can I say?).

I hope I can craft weapons and give them to caravan guards as well as other npcs in my settlement... That way I can outfit them as best I can and give them a fighting chance in the wastes.

Id want to make a town similar to goodsprings from new vegas... with much better defences... as in a small quaint village type settlement with its own food and water source... but with actual turrets to keep away raiders and monsters.

I might make my character named Sam "Mayday" Malone and open up a Bar named Cheers. Where was the Bar located in Boston and hope I can build there.

I want to build a Raider sanctuary. Bodies dismembered and hanging on chains. Raiders are underrated when it comes to interior design. My town will be for raiders and runaway androids from "the railroad."

I also would love to make yurts, like in Red Rock canyon.

A helpful hand am I. : p

According the the trailers, the Mass. State House will be in the game, it'll be a building with a golden dome. This link is a line up of a rough coordination of where it should be in-game, but the game world is never 100% spot on, so keep in mine it may not be there at all, but if you just want to ballpark the area it's in, this is your best bet. :)

I hope you really need to put in some serious effort to making your own settlement.

Obviously they would have used godmode in the demo to make resources a non-issue. But building and tearing down stuff seems a little too fast and easy.

I wonder if we are able to go around recruiting as well. Might be useful for that group of 5 we saw in the MS spotlight.

Just got an idea... Barbed wires and electrocuted fences, and raid sirens... Also a NPC that sells drugs.

I think you have to have the bomb otherwise it will be missing that something special. Maybe have it around a semi intact bomb. Maybe part of it exploded but the bomb did not have a Nuke it was missed on the assembly line. Maybe it had a lot of Chinese pamphlets.

I think the location of your pre-war home can be turned into a town. So of course im going to make that town into a stronghold and a nexus of trade.

The first thing im going to do is wall off my property after gutting the rest of the town for materials. I also wonder what kind of materials we'll be able to use, and how easy it will be to upgrade. The scrap shacks don't seem to appealing, hopefully we can get some good solid walls going. After encasing my home, its time for security and a good solid gate at the front, and hopefully with the wiring system I can have all sorts of floodlights and turrets that can be controlled from a single terminal in my home.

There's a lot of creativity to be had in this building system, I think its a major step forward, and I hope we get a good demo of it before launch so that I can see just how close my grand plans for my walled town can be realized.

it's an idea. If the asset's not there, then I'll just slap a sign down memorializing the fools that build their city around a bomb.

Just thought you guys would appreciate this info

  • Bethesda's proprietary Radient A.I. and story system are also being used for your settlements to drive random encounters. It will determine if someone should be sent to your town, if raiders should attack the settlement or abduct your caravan, etc.

So this should be interesting on how it will play in with our settlements.

For my settlement I'm hoping to create a bustling settlement that focuses on a population of young males and females for expansion purposes so besides the mayors home most of the houses will be more apartment like aiming to fit 4 couples in or 4 singles per floor with a couple of building solely for individuals. The reason I like the idea of have density instead of quality is because from what I do know of vanilla game the area I'll be allowed to build my settlement in will be relatively low so I can't have a varse expanse of buildings.

Depending on how high we can build buildings this will affect what type of building I'll have for my population for example if we can build up to 3 or 4 storey's/levels then I'll have a couple of building like that which are dense while most of my other building will have a lower population count and be more luxurious.

This will also depend on if we have special buildings such as a guards barracks, etc in that case my whole plan goes out the window.

I'm thinking something along the lines of The Republic of Dave, but with 'Republic' swapped with 'Dictatorship'.

Electric fences, soviet-style homes, a prison with execution chamber...

Welcome to New Eden, named after our beloved President. You made a smart decision moving to the safest place in the wastes, and we are pleased to inform you that any accusations of human rights violations are greatly exaggerated.

Now please review "The law and Me" for a comprehensive guide to what is and isn't legal here, paying close attention to Chapter 24-Your Rights, which starts on page 1718. Oh and don't mind the camera everywhere. Like the alarming number of turrets protecting you from the outside, they are just protecting you from yourself.

*By moving in to your new home, you accept the governments right to forcefully enroll you in our weapons testing program. Someone needs to see how effective our weapon prototypes are, and that person may be you! Congratulations!

I wouldn't doubt if you have the option to offer shelter to an NPC or two that you encounter through quests.

"I lost everything"

"Sorry, cosmic forces beyond my control are preventing me from letting you move in to my safe community. Good luck with the homeless thing!"

Even if it's a simple little escort mission for a temporary follower or two while you get them to your Settlement, it will make some sense. I mean, those Minutemen have to go somewhere now that their base is shrekt by raiders and Deathclaws.

If we can go vertical, I'm building a quasi-Dark Tower tower.

Just Dug this out of a Game Informer article. No idea if it's true or not, only time will tell. Big notes are Recruitment and trade routes.
