OOC: Wow look at all the peasants! All we really need is an Armorer and we should make it. Why do we need three guards and a captain though, I think two should be suffice.
IC: Colinion returned to the already struggling settlement to see someone set the barn on fire, the other mage gone, and the the Orc-warrior dead. He was carrying the corpses of a deer he and his dog had hunted, he also brought back three others over that night. He dropped the corpse and walked over to Ikarion. "What the hell happened to this place?"
raggi shuffles up with his load of mushrooms, herbs, tubers and the rabbit. "Umm - the young elf went crazy and threw some fireballs, there was a fire and that poor orc girl died. The poor looney elf won't be any more trouble and there is some extra building to be done ...
It would be nice to have a fence, but if this settlement is to grow it really needs that big building replaced - and we have a lot of work to do replacing the supplies. Everything that was in there will likely be unusable now sera - the forge will be handy - the remains of the swords there can be turned into tools and a ploughshare if there is a smithie's hammer, tongs and other implements. Otherwise we will have to seek out a place we can buy those from. That armour you were talking about - that will need repairing too if it is to be of any use
It's good to see that you have brought in some game - my poor supplies would not last and we will have to hunt and forage hard now.
I suggest that we split our energies between foraging and hunting for game and such and also start creating small plots where we can plant vegetables both for now and to provide food for the winter ahead.
The vegetable plots can have earthen walls faced with stone to protect them from the weather and the stone will soak up and reflect sunlight to keep them warmer - hard work that, but we will need more than one crop this year. The stone can come from the fields we will be ploughing once we have the proper tackle - I hope those horses are good for that? And the horse manure will enrich the earth. I have a small store of seeds for my purposes, but they will nmot be enough to feed so many people so we will have to be careful we do not gather all the vegetables we come accross - many will have to be allowed to seed and the seed harvested - but we will have to buy in fertile seed from the nearest town or village along with whatever we cannot make here ourselves.
Now maybe you people would like to find out what skills people have that could be useful here? ... and get the division of labour sorted and tasks assigned - without planning and sensible leadership this settlement will not last a year.
Meanwhile I think we need to know a lot more about this part of the Province - a map would be useful - the hunters and forragers might add detail from their hunts and searches."
Turning to Ikarion. "Apparently we have an Imperial Battlemage in our midst - quite astonishing that given how the Battlespire was destroyed at the time of the Dragonbreak - a lot longer than any human I have heard about has lived. Last surviving Battlemages (if he could be called that) would be that unknown warrior who brought out the news from the Battlespire and Jagar Tharn. No Battlespire = no more training - so I suppose you style yourself after the Battlemages of old - very impressive that.
There's an orchard of some sort growing over that way is there? Will the saplings start fruiting this year?"
