I loved the idea of State of Decay, but, playing on a PC at least, the 3rd person view alone was clunky enough to turn me off. I should go back to it though, 'cos often a break from a game gives it new life and I'll have something to do until the 10th of November.
Back to FO4 though, I don't want to micro manage my 'settlement(s)'. Set and forget is the go, I think, while I go off exploring/fighting etc. The farms/water bores I build will dictate the size, and the defences will dictate whether it gets overun (and becomes a raider SH for me to retake later >) or becomes a sustainable safe place earning me caps to do other things.
What I seriously hope for (and this probably deserves it's own topic) is randomly generated locations. Perhaps the vertibird can take us there (for a price: we gotta have money sinks) to explore a new vault/enclave base/raider base/mutant base/pre-war ruins/sewers/unexplored city ruins etc etc etc. These things will be "outside" the main map and make the game playable even after you've explored the sh!t outta the main map. Replaying as a different kind of character is good but still only has a finite longevity, we need radiant missions AND locations.
imo.
