I've been noticing a lot of flares and smoke grenades in the box if you check it regularly. Might as well use them. I hadn't been assuming they go in a direction but cover a radius. Sometimes they don't work idk? Sometimes they come quick enough you can use them like a big grenade for some one who's in cover. I like to watch the flares come down too. So pretty.
