[Feedback] Settlements badly broken

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 5:25 am

I have some major issues with Sanctuary.

1) The settlement has the entire main street lined with gun turrets. Yet when I was told it was under attack and didn't rush to help within 10 minutes, the entire settlement was wiped out. Loaded a savefile, went to help, turns out to be 5 basic ghouls that died with a single pistol round each. They wouldn't have lasted a second against the defenses.

2) I built a basic weapon shop. I assigned a settler to it. All settlers assigned to that shop pile up behind the house with the workbench and just stand around there. I can assign other shops fine. I tried moving the shop to different places, makes no difference. If I tell a settler manually to walk near the shop, I can actually talk to him to barter.. but once he walks off again, that's it.

3) Anytime I leave the settlement, the stats change. Suddenly I supposedly have no beds, water, food.. and happiness plummets. Fasttravel back to sanctuary, all good. Fasttravel away, stats die.

I'd love to post screenshots of this, but apparently I'm not allowed to.

Any ideas how to fix this, if possible?

Havent had this issue for some reason...my game glitches are with loading and save files. Game takes forever to load and now starts locking up upon loading a save file.

Same problem here, especially with Sanctuary and the false stats really bugs me, now I'm not sure if this is a fix but I got so annoyed with that stupid bug I decided to work on a new settlement (Castle) and after about 30 minutes of building I realized Sanctuary's stats went back to normal on my pipboy but didn't get my hopes to high however after about 4-5 hours of gameplay after sprucing castle up I find Sanctuary's happiness going back up and not been giving any false stats so far! hope it helps :)

End of the month patch should fix most of the problems... Maybe even an end of the week patch. Its only been 3 days.

All I know is they better release a patch that fixes all these "hang times" and what not...it should not take 5 minutes to save a simple file

have also troubles with the Sanctuary settlement. First of all, the attack nearly always spawns within the area of the fortifications i build. second is that i can't end the attack and at some point, the population is dropped to one settler :( for me it's a game breaking bug ...

I find the arrival of new settlers can unbalance things.

That's fine, new settlers generate a resource need that must be catered for.

So once a settlement has built up,

I'll switch the comms transmitter off.

Of my 9 settlements all are happy except one that could use an extra turret.

I don't build huge settlements - around 50 settlers in the 9 locations.

And I haven't lost a single settler yet.

You could just give your settlers better weapons, simple 10mm pistols or pipe rifles will probably help

they have armors, they have guns and all the attackers are actually dead ... it's just impossible to end the quest (or i'm to stupid to find the end trigger) I talked to the settlers, they said "thanks" and nothing changes :( and then after a while the "fail" message appears

My settlements are broken too. My Pip-boy reports wrong info on my settlements if I move far away from them - no water, no defence, not enough beds etc - and happiness drops like a stone. The only thing that seems to temporarily fix it is to leave Sanctuary with the workshop interface open, and walk past the green boundary until the workshop auto-closes.

If I then build something else, the problem recurs.

Xbox One.

I'm playing on a PC.

It seems that completing the castle will fix the Sanctuary stats.

However, I now can not trade with any shop in Sanctuary at all anymore.. all the traders just want to trade gear, not even the med shop allows me to cure my stuff.

What the heck, Bethesda?

I also cannot get a settler to assign to the weapon shop. Other shops seem to work fine, but not that one... even tried in a different village. I'm on PC.

I have every shop in game at sanctuary. My weapon shop also is the ONLY ONE that no assigned settlers populate.

I found that without shops my settlers would run out of ammo eventually & die from attacks. So I built a shop, sold a TON of console command made bullets for their weapons to the village trader shop I built. After that it looks like the settlers buy that ammo from the shop to resupply & everything is fine.

The only other way past this that I've found, is to make a bunch of defense turrets (since they have unlimited ammo) and place them in areas surrounding your village. Next, put up walls with open entry ways that funnel enemies into the defense turrets. The AI will then funnel right to your turrets. I have all my settlers assigned to trade routes & farming. Zero assigned as guards (but well armed) & I have no issues.

aside from being a little confusing, and very un-intuitive; settlements have worked just fine for me.

this happens to me too

It doesnt change all of the stats to 0 at the same time. But i will ccheck my pipboy and sanctuary will have a little exclamation mark next to it, telling me that I have 0 defense. One time it told me I had 0 beds.

So, both times, I travel back to sanctuary, open menu (hold 'V') and it tells me that everything is normal.

Also, different but related.. sometimes the power indicator does not work properly. When I am in build mode, and I hover over an object that uses or requires power, it will indicate that it does not have power, which is designated by the red electric bolt icon.. as opposed to when it is not red, which means you do have power.

These are (a few of) the bugs i have noticed so far

The OP is completely accurate, Settlements ARE badly broken.

Especially frustrating are the "failed to defend" quest BUG.

Let me give you a reoccurring example.

I got a message after sleeping in a location other than Sanctuary, that Sanctuary was under attack.

The quests is listed in the miscellaneous quests section.

Going to Sanctuary via fast travel and the large attack begins.

My 100 Defense mops them up with out to much problems and i win.

I talk to a settler that thanks me for saving them and i respond.

AND>>>>>>>>>>

nothing no quest completed.

Then fast travel to a new location and "failed to defend" pops up and fast raveling back to Sanctuary a lot of crops are damaged, etc.

This has happened to me multiple, multiple times.

Hrm no issues here and my settlements are going strong so far. I just build a lot of turrets up high in them. In sanctuary I build a big 3 story house with a connecting archway to where my settlers sleep with turrets on top of both buildings facing each direction. I don't doubt their are issues, but I have been lucky so far :).

I, too, am in the midst of a defense quest that won't end. I was there when the settlers killed a Synth Brahmin, but no other attackers appeared. Yet the defense quest did not register as complete.

I scoured the countryside and killed the followuing things which were nearby, possible threats, but not obviously part of any attacking force: 2 Raiders; a Super Mutant Behemoth; and a Gunner camp.

Kept going back to camp: no quest completion.

Noticed two of my settlers looked like they were based off the same blonde woman, so I quicksaved and killed them in case the reason the quest didn't end was that one was a Synth (but they weren't).

So, yeah. About to log in and hope that the glitch works itself out.
