Settlements destructible?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 2:42 am

If this is the case, the modders that will make new walls will have to do much more work on adding fragments.
If the raiders instead of destroying the settlement will capturing it, we would have to build a defense, not only so that the settlement was hard to capture but also to make it easy to win back.

considering how in FO3 and NV you could wage war on raiders and never destroy their settlements, yours might be the same. raid-able but not destroyable?

I'm kinda hoping its like Skyrim's Hearthfire but done much better. That your settlement will not come under attack if you are not there.

I'd love this. If you're far away and have set up no defenses into something you spend hours building, it's your fault. It's the WASTELAND for cripes sake.

Do you know if it's possible to move already placed things, like turrets, or do you have to make things right from the start?

Yeah, that would be annoying. "you have placed this object, now delete it and make a new one".

Not fully clear. We know we can move smaller stuff like generators and such.

Therefore if we get automatic turrets, it would be plausible to make them moveable.

But an entire house or something premade wich is "static/not destructible" - no clue, but I hope so.

I would imagine you can move it. I mean you probably salvaged the items for it and made it. why not move it?

I would rather they not be destroyed...Especially if I put a lot of wiring work into something...I don't feel it would add to my enjoyment to come back to find my giant John Cena light sculpture destroyed because I got caught up with business in Diamond City...

If you go all out with your defenses ( and lay them out right ) you shouldn't have to worry about your settlement while your away.

I think they should be semi destructible and fully lootable.

I hope so anyway, would give the game more depth and realism.

Buildings still stand, everything is static, but the people can die. Thats how it works.

I hope people aren't as stupid in Fallout 4 that they are in Skyrim during vampire attacks, because if they suicide themselves then defenses won't help much.

Thats a great point all the defenses in the world wont mean a damn thing once the first shot rings out and your Gardner storms a group of super mutants with a kitchen knife he instantly equips.

Don't get your hopes up. Destructible environments are very data-intensive to process and I don't believe it's something BGS is doing for this game. There does appear to be more destruction than in their previous titles, but nothing they have shown has indicated you can topple structures or anything of that magnitude. I'm expecting raiders can kill your settlers but not much else.

If the walls can't be destroyed, I hope that the turrents or generators and such can be destroyed, or the raiders can take over the settlement.

I have the feeling they'll be a bit like Farcry's base system with the added base building. Guessing they had something like it planned for Skyrim's civil war forts and this is the idea coming to fruition in Fallout.

I would imagine it works similar to Skyrim, where you only get attacked if you fast travel or are in the near area. That or it does't happen as often if you are away as oppose to traveling to the settlement.

I never had a problem with Skyrim invasions because my wife was a master of the bow lol The Huntress wasn't to be trifled with. Although I did have to rescue her once, might work somewhat similarly.

Good, it'll make it a lot easier on the modders if they don't have to also create a whole series of semi destroyed textures for whatever building material texture they make for us.

Don't see why this isn't possible. Especially after all that collateral damage you see in the trailer to buildings when the PC uses that minigun in the PA.

A nuke blasting fatboy in the hands of a raging supermutant does'nt leave much room for survival of anything IMO

Their is a tad more destructibility in the game so i wouldn't be surprised if settlement constructs were included.

But only the "layers" such as doors and walls etc would be destroyed, NOT the frames or foundations.

I'd be surprised if they were destructible. Looks to me like the raid happens wherever you are the raid goes on until either you or the raiders are dead.

Which is fine by me. I'm just glad I can build a settlement in the game.

Im hoping for a farcry map editor type playability for this. I spent hours upon hours tinkering with **** just so it looked right. If i can find a way to find enough materials to build a wall around my settlement with one or two ecp's then ill be set. Almost like a barbarian outpost with my arch...SNIPERS walking the walls and up in the roost.

As long as all my stuff I horde does not get destroyed I will be fine with the destruction of my settlements if it happens.

I've got no problems about my settlement getting attacked ,it is the wasteland and you've got to expect raiders ,just dont wont it to be some form of arbitarry destruction and it makes sense! ,what would be good is as your settlement gets bigger and you join up with other settlements by trade or whatever it gets less likely for raiders to attack!,(ok it's a dream but it would be a cool option!).
