Settlements

Cool things that settlements need:

Jails

Store (that the player owns)

Research center

Can anyone think of anything else?

I'd like to build some kind of a farm and complex for rearing humans for consumption. Seriously, guys, I don't have some sort of cannibalism fetish, alright.

Did you ever see that very low budget zombie movie where the zombies learn to farm/raise humans? I think it was called Zombie Wars.

Font size notwithstanding, I can think of several things I would love to see added to the settlement mechanics. Mostly, I would like the ability to establish resources and start a manufacturing base. It doesn't have to be Industrial Revolution in size and scope, but something along the lines of roughly colonial levels of technology with the added technology to allow for guns and such. I would like to see the Brahmin caravans you can set up be able to trade with NPC towns and traders. I would love to see an actual economy develop around these features.

It is (probably) outside the scope of what I think Bethesda wanted to implement, so the only way I think I will see this is to craft my own mod.

I can see housing resources being a major category of mods in Fallout 4. I'm sure a year down the line, a modded game will feel like The Sims with guns.

Personally I want to chain up raiders and hook their nipbles up to a generator, but people tell me that is screwed up. But I say I want a raider powered generator.

Good solid dwellings, trading posts, stables for Brahmin and weapon/ ammunition manufacturing facilities of some kind would, I think, be a priority. And in a post- nuclear environment. the wall would almost certainly make a comeback in larger settlements until such time as mobile field artillery capable of reducing it became commonplace. And all of this surrounded by outlying homesteads/ farms.

An Ammunition press, and some nice fancy Gun racks. I plan to create a warehouse in my settlement with an insane amount of guns made/stockpiled, which will be the head of my Weapons manufacturing company: "Gov. Bean's Bullets." (Name is still a WIP)

I wouldn't mind building settlements that attract raiders that actually want to live with you. The player character can have their own little raider village with amputated bodies hanging around and profligates nailed to crosses.

lol... I doubt that, mod housing and settlements will be different things. Settlements IMO are just fluff really. I won't be touching settlement feature personally.

Something along the lines of After school special done in FO4 hell yeah.

A place where people who want to get to my settlement (maybe traders?) fall in a trap and slowly die in painful ways.

This gives me an idea. Putting mines to some real use, and create a humongous minefield surrounding the settlement. Perhaps make a paranoid lone character that snipe anyone who approaches. :disguise:

This new settlement building feature can spawn a whole lot of role playing ideas.

We'll just call you "Arkansas"! Just remember, just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that they *aren't* out to get you!
