Settler Jobs

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 12:13 am

At Starlight Drive-in, I have one settler out of seven assigned a job. that guy is assigned to the garden, growing the food. The question I have is, what other jobs are available to be assigned? Can they stand guard duty, or cook a brahmin burger, or sell vacuum cleaners or insurance against raider attacks? I'm really curious, I'd love to give them all something to do.

If you build guard posts they can be assigned to those which will add to defence

The can also be assigned to scavenger stations which as far as I can tell regularly adds supplies to your work station.

You can also assign one to a supply line which lets linked settlements share recourses. The local leader perk is needed for this.

With local leader 2 perk to you can also make them traders by building shops but as far as I can tell you can't actually buy anything from these shops they just regularly give you money.

You CAN buy from some of the shops you build, but I am having a hard time making my settlers actually stand in their assigned shop.

They simply won't go there.

Only my tier 1 weapons shop seems to be working. So yeah, it is possible but perhaps just not working right.

Well I've built shops around Sanctuary and The Castle. The settlers running them stick around during the day, but at night they go to sleep in the beds I've placed in the area. Makes sense if you ask me. Might not be working right for everyone though.

In the initial 5 settlers for Sanctuary, one is the handyman, one is the soldier, one is the farmer and one is Mother Murphy. What does the other guy do? Can I assign him to farm? If so how do I do that on the PS4. I've tried but I haven't hit on the trick yet.

You need to have your build menu open, and walk up to your settler and press X. Then press X on a crop or guardpost etc.

Thanks, that worked. Now even with my relative low-key settlement, I can farm enough to hopefully get some more adhesive made.

Has anyone had the problem of settlers not going to perform their jobs? I assigned a couple settlers to go run a couple of shops in Hangman's Alley, but they won't go over to run them. They just stand around looking stupid. Does it have anything to do with their happiness level? I am aware they need food and water, and I am trying to establish farms to provide it to them.

It seems bugged to me. Rarely do they go to their shop and stay at it. It is also difficult to tell who you assigned to a job and not, because after awhile, all the settlers look the same. I think shops also earn money and it goes into your workbench.

However, when I run up to settler who is supposed to be at his stand, when I talk to them I can still barter with them. So, even if they aren't standing at the shop, you still may be able to trade with them if you engage them in conversation. At least it works like that in Sanctuary.

Problem is when you trade with them normally instead of buying at a shop they never seem to have anything worth trading for.

Because that interface is for equipping them, not bartering.
