Settler Status

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 3:15 pm

Is there a way to keep track of what each and every individual settler is doing because a lot of my settlements have grown quite large and it has become quite difficult to keep the track of what each settler is assigned to.

If I assign a settler to a store it turns out that one of my supply line got cut or my food went down because that settler was assigned to the the farm or a supply line but I forgot about it because i assigned him his job probably two weeks ago.

Is anyone else having this problem and more importantly is there a way to keep track of settlers activities or if there is settler status screen hidden somewhere in the pipboy?

Because if not then this feature is badly needed for players who like to expand their settlements.....

Yep, none that I've seen or read.

I did read here somewhere someone suggested removing all hats on all settlers and putting on hats on those you've assigned tasks to. Ingenious. I'll have to try it.

There have been a lot of threads about this subject, the search feature should bring up dozens, some detailed discussions.

Until an update or patch allows us to name settllers, or provides us with some sort of settler management tool, the best way I've found is to use a combination of clothing themed for the assigned job, and renaming a weapon or item equipped by each settler.

Example: Assign a settler to farm. Dress him in undershirt and jeans, put a bandanna on him, and equip him with a pistol renamed "Farmer Bob" or "Farmer1(settlement name)".

Do the same for merchants, guards and scrappers. For Provisioners, equip them with an item that shows their route, "Sanctuary-Red Rocket".

Not ideal, but it works. I've currently got around 200 settlers, with several settlements at 25 pop., definitely makes it easier to keep track.

Yes i did search and a lot of topics did come up but none with a definitive answer so I had to ask.

And i did try to rename the settlers but couldn't find that option may be I missed something, how would i do that?

You can't actually rename settlers as of yet, the system I suggested involves naming an item based on their job at the appropriate workbench, then equipping the settler with that item.

Note that you will still have to open trade with the settler to see any specifics you used, but by dressing them similarly based on task you can easily spot them.
