A settler took one of my powerarmors...

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 4:24 pm

without my direct command...and managed to die, in spite of a moltitude of defensive turrets.

1) I wonder really how the hell did he managed.

2) I wonder now how the hell can I recover the frame of the powerarmor.

This is quite annoying, indeed. I understand that someone is able (without training!?!?!) to use powerarmor to defend a settlement. This is good and realistic. But, FFS, make the powerarmor frames being recoverable! DAMN!

did you remember to remove the power core from the armor? If not then anyone can take it including anyone that is attacking your settlement.

Sounds like a settler needs a shotgun blast to the face, to me.

No, off course I didn't expect that to happen so I let the power core inside...

Thank you for the advice, but the problem remains.

if they are dead then no you can not recover it. If they were alive then you could of pick pocketed the core from them which makes them remove it. I've been tryin to sneak up to raiders in PA to try to steal thiers. not working out very well yet.

You can't get the power armor frame from a corpse, only the armor. You will have to acquire another one. There are some vendors that sell the frames.

Agree, we need a means to recover PA frames from dead NPCs. At least, from our own settlers who use the PA in settlement defense.

STEALING Power Armor is FUN (don't tell Piper I said that). Not being able to recover the frame from PA-wearing ENEMY NPCs should probably remain the norm--while it doesn't make a whole lot of practical sense, it keeps things interesting.

My sympathies. You should go to Franklin and steal a couple PAs, to reconstitute your armory. And giggle while you do. Giggle a LOT. I always do...

Maybe a Science perk to be able to recover frames from dead people shoult do the trick!

Not bad. Being that there's no level cap, AFAIK, and eventually I'd want to equip all my settlers with T-60f PAs, it only makes sense that we have the option to spend a level-up on the ability to recover our assets without blowing a wad of caps. Nice call.

Nowadays I just treat fusion cores like my car keys.

There are so many PA frames and suits just out in the wasteland that I'm not worried about one suit.

I got out of one to try to talk my way out of something and forgot to take out the core. I failed and the person I had to kill jumped in my PA. It svcks that it can happen but I like it because it adds to game can throw a wrench in the system if you're not expecting it.

True, but I usually prefer to be the wrench-thrower. Pickpocket a raider's power core, top him when he dismounts. Take the frame, stuff it in the garage. Continue building my arsenal for the eventual takeover of the Commonwealth... ;-)

Every PA is an asset. Every fusion core is an asset. Every Minuteman is an asset. I need all I can get for my scorched earth campaign...

Wouldn't you want all you settlers wearing PA if your end game is wasteland domination? You could have your own ragamuffin PA army.

Precisely.

But I don't want them wearing the PAs YET.

I haven't figured out for sure if they can or cannot be damaged while being worn by settlers. Thinking of sacrificing one of my spare T-45s to figure that out. Fix it up, direct a settler into it, hang out for inevitable random NPC attack, direct settler OUT OF power armor, inspect components for damage. Simple experiment. Finch Farm tends to get attacked every time I drop in (even got attacked by Deacon, believe it or not), so maybe I'll try it out there. I WOULD just put Piper in one and see what shakes loose, but I want to be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN how it works with SETTLERS, not COMPANIONS, in case there's any difference (which I DOUBT, but nonetheless I want to control for that possibility).

Interesting sidebar: I stowed a bunch of PAs on the roof of the Red Rocket, then dropped the fast travel target up there, then scrapped the stairs leading up to the roof, so one can supposedly only reach the roof via fast travel. THEN I invited settlers. WOULD YOU F***ING KNOW, a couple of them got up on the roof and mounted my power armors. I only knew from downstairs, because it was night and I saw the headlamp of my X-01 Mk VI shining (glitch) through the ceiling of the building after a quick skirmish with some supermutants. I go outside by the chem station, look up, and there's my X-01 looking back at me with its big, bright, red eyes. Put a stop to THAT crap right away.

Settler AI is pretty dumb... they go run way away from the camp to engage the enemy instead of letting the turrets do the work.. then again enemy AI isn't very smart either.. if they were they'd snipe the turrets from a distance and overrun the base easily so I guess they cancel each other out.

Do the settlers use cores or do they run out if a NPC is using it?

I can tell you where to get a frame only for free. It just might require some Radaway if you don't have the Aqua(gender pronoun) perk.

Every time settlers takes one of or all of my power armors they always take it off once danger is taken care of which leaves randomly placed power armor in the settlement, never seen them actually keep it.

Spoiler
Head East from Concord along the road. Eventually you will come across a lake with a crashed vertibird on the north end. Sitting right next to the vertibird on the lake bed is a naked frame.

Spoiler
There's one in one of the dishes at Revere Array

People keep reporting this about settlers taking their armour. I have 15 suits now. All at The Castle. All have a fusion core in the back. None of them have been taken for a joyride.
