Settler won't go to the store I assigned them to!

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 10:33 am

I spent 1000 caps to build a store in my settlement, assigned a settler to the store but he never goes there. no matter how often i wait, he never shows up! Whats even more annoying is that directly across from his weapon store, is a general store i built and the guy i assigned to that one, is almost always there.

So what gives??

Hard to say as I have yet to set a store but perhaps he needs to be taken aside by the manager and given a write up

Are you telling him to go there or does it say assign?

I've found that if I don't assign anyone to do anything, anyone name 'Settler' will just automatically assign themselves as needed. Except that Minuteman guy with the cool hat you meet in Lexington (can't recall his name). He seems to enjoy patrolling the bridge, which is fine with me so far. Anyone with a proper name seems to be too stupid to do anything other than sleep and wander around.

They don't assign themselves. The ones that aren't assigned, work at workstation/chem station/armor bench. That makes it better to identify the slackers i guess.

Hey

From what I have seen from building a Trader, Weapondealer, armordealer, food and drink vendor and Clothes vendor my Weapon vendor does not go to the stand but the rest does.

But I clicked on the settler who I assigned to that job and I was still able to sell and buy from him so I guess it does work. it's just that he does not go to stall. I have tried this on two settlers and it happens both times.

I seem to be only making 20 caps from this... I take I need to make rank 3 stalls on each major settlement to get a good return from this?

Try moving the stall, Im suspecting its a pathing issue because when I moved my clothing store(It had the same issue, she was still selling but no where near it) the woman I assigned to that job finally started to use it

The only Issue I have currently in settlements is with Drinking Buddy who seems consonantly hang out around whatever other bot or Synth is handy.

Ditto. From my xp it does appear to be pathing issue. If you have assigned but un-manned stall, you need to move it.

Fwiw - among the abandoned home plots that you can raze to the ground, I saved one to never build home on but used the nice flat foundation to be the 'town square' that i built all my stores around. After encountering this pathing issue. I figured the one place every settler should be able to get to is a 'house' location - so by building all my stores around a house foundation plot, I figured it would guarantee no pathing issue and so far so good - all my stores adound that plot are manned and just fine.

Not sure how i will handle it though for settlements that have no nice abandoned home i can use as pre-positioned foundation.

Hey

That is exactly what I did. My "town market" is the house slot to the left of the workbench in Sanctuary. But, the pathing issue still persists only on the Weapon dealer stall. All other stalls are manned. I'm gonna try putting the stall on the grassy area next to it and see how that goes.
