Settlers level up?

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 7:27 am

Do settlers level up? With the Awareness perk, I can see my setters' levels and damage resistance. Some are at level 2, 3, 6, etc. I'm at level 45. I suppose they get XP mainly from combat. I notice that when they kill something, I don't see the "cha-ching" notification telling me that the XP goes to me, so I'm assuming the settlers get the XP. If that's the case, then they must level up very slowly, since combat doesn't happen often for them. How high a level have you seen them reach? It would be nice to have a bunch of high-level settlers.

Also, is there a way to check a settler's SPECIAL? Do settlers even have SPECIAL? They can wear apparel that enhances some of the SPECIAL attributes, but does it affect them?

Probably have to wait until the GECK is out before you can see if NPCs use the SPECIAL system.

Not settlers I don't think but turrets apparently do. Still no match for those magical fairies that like to destroy them randomly every time the game decides to troll you though.

Settlers should scale with the player level because enemies that attack settlements do. They did this in fallout shelter. I guess they forgot to add it in :(?

Any idea how long it takes for damaged, but still functional turrets to repair themselves?

Fallout 4 also needs another thing from Fallout Shelter: those text combat progress when you send a settler to the wasteland. Fallout 4 could use that to show you what happened when you are not at a settlement to defend an attack.

No idea sorry. You could try fast traveling from one end of the map to the other to see if they are fixed by the time you get back.

I think I allowed 4 or 5 game days to pass before checking on my damaged (but functional) turrets. Even after 4 or 5 days they had the same health.

I can instantly repair them by storing them in the workbench and then immediately placing them back where they should be. But I guess that would reset the turrets to the lowest level (assuming turrets can level up). If Bethesda allows destroyed turrets to be completely repaired using resources, then they should allow for partially damaged turrets to be repaired to full health using the same amount of resources. It's annoying to wait for them to be completely destroyed before given the option to repair.

Yeah, I have read that turrets can level up. I suppose whichever turret does the most damage will get the XP. Personally I have not seen this yet. I allowed my turrets to kill off some super mutants at Starlight Diner without lifting a finger so they can supposedly gain XP. They shot at and threw molotov cocktails at my turrets damaging them.

When I approach the turrets in build mode I can see their health bar has decreased, but the option to repair is grayed out.

Actualy as far as i know turrets dont lvl up, but machine Gun turrets do come in 7 versions(Mk1 to Mk7) its random what lvl(max lvl you can currently build also depends on Gunnut perk or your lvl not sure which one)they are when you place them(their max lvl defnatly depends on the location), you can keep randomizing turrets lvl by moving left/right in the build menu( dont try it at Sanctuary cuz max lvl there is Mk1 anyway, if you turn the turet around a bit in build preview you see the Mk number on them so you can just keep swaping left and right until you get max lvl for that location-as said before the max lvl you can currently place also depends on your lvl/gunnut perk not sure which oen of those two).

Few examples of their max lvls in different settlments: spectacle island mk 1-7. At sanctuary hills, abernathy farm, red rocket truck stop they're always mk1. at outpost zimonjia and tenpines mk1-3 and so on.

thats odd, i can always repair turrets if they damaged (xbox one)

in my sanctuary i have 3 areas where turrets are placed on the ground to draw attackers to them setting them up for a hiding from my other turrets.

those ground turrets always end up damaged (never ever destroyed so far) and i always have an option to repair them

I doubt anything in game levels up or receives XP. With possible exception of companions who might auto level with player as in previous Bethesda games.
