Settlers moving into Castle, but no one is there.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:22 pm

I have a bugged Taking Independence quest.

I powered up the radio transmitter, but Preston won't recognize it, so I am not able to complete that quest.

However, after I powered it up, many people began coming to Castle. Now there are about 150 people there and the happiness is about 15%, because there is nothing I can do...I think the place I travel to is different.

But when I go there, there is no one. Only Preston, who just tells me to power up the transmitter. And it's already on.

It's like the Castle I can go to and see is a different place than the Castle all of the settlers are at.

Any idea how to fix this?

150 People???? :-O Thats funny in general, because the radio transmitter, which is powered up and working in my game, is not a recruitment beacon, it sends out the radio signal but is not attracting people, so whenever I settle there i'll build a normal beacon. Thought that was normal.

Now that you mention it, I never built anything there other than the generator(s) to power up the transmitter as part of the quest! I just realized that now. It really is strange.

So why have so many people moved in? And where are they?

And even though I powered up the transmitter in the quest, I am not able to listen to the radio station.

Well if it really shows 150! people, then it must be the same visual pipboy bug that sometimes shows 0 settlers, until you go to your base and whoop your people are back, I would guess.

Did you get the success marker for the powering up? Connect 2 big generators toegether and wire it to the right connector on the tower?

Yes, the marker appeared and is still there.

I have tried many different combinations of generators, even producing over 70 power just to see if it would work.

Also, the radio transmitter does power up. The lights turn on, and the top wheel on the side begins to spin. So it is on. But when I click "Activate" nothing happens. It just gives a sound like "bip" that indicates it cannot be activated.

How the hell did you get 150 people? I thought the limit was freaking 21, which is based on your charisma.

A random other thought to that:

Is your random Minutemen dude sitting on the desk working the radiotower? If everything works right, he is sititng there unable to be moved away or assigned to other works, so he seems to be essential for the thing to work.

If he is missing, maybe someone on PC can help you make him spawn?

It was 135 people, not 150. My mistake.

Here are screenshots.

There is only Preston there. There were some other Minutemen I think, but they died in the fight at the Castle during the quest.

I think that person must be the one I need!

Don't forget, the settlers wants.

Beds, power, food & water. If any of these are lacking, it may cause problems. 135 people? Damn. I have what?? 13 at max lol happiness at 60%

the settler count bugs from time to time, i've noticed my self.

Like finch's and the slog for me, vary between 24-44 settlers.. but theres actually only 24 there.

Not to forget that settler count is based on your charisma, so there is a maximum.
