62 Settlers!

Post » Thu Dec 10, 2015 3:27 pm

I accidentally discovered that settlers love a bar and I think they are key to getting more and making them happy.

I have 4 vendors at Red Rocket and decided to put a bar. I was just messing around and built a staircase up to the roof and built a bar there. I didn't even assign anyone to it. I keep building and not even 2 minutes later I spin around and there are all the settlers on the roof (except my two guards) walking around the bar. I have 18, two were at the guard posts. I quickly built some chairs and they started sitting down and talking. Telling me about different settlements and places I should check out and going on about Diamond city and other random things.

Question: Do you know how much the Scavenging Stations help? Is it beneficial to have more than one at a settlement?

I agree with completely!!!!! Actually, settlement building is what got me started on making youtube videos! Right now, I have no other way to share builds and ideas.

I actually live streamed this ENTIRE build, and it was so much fun, i had suggestions and great ideas form my small amount of viewers and it turned out great. I think my viewers had a great time because i was interacting with them so much during the build testing out and trying their suggestions on what looked and worked best during the build. Gotta give my fans a shout-out!!

Scavenging stations do work... I was browing my workbench one time at a new settlement I just started, so the workbench was mostly empty. One of the first things i had jsut built was a scavenge station and as I was looking through the materials... i actually saw, new junk get deposited into the workbench, along with purified water (from the water plant i just installed as well). It was pretty cool. Its not much junk though, but if you setup stations at all settlements and have all supply lines run, the materials accumulate quite well on their own.

Are they actually there? In the pipboy it always tells me some of my settlements have 30 some people but when I go there it says 20 in the workshop menu.

The guys level 185 and not to mention there's a build limit, I don't buy it, with the build limit and 11 Charisma I had 21 settlers!

yup they are actually there. and youre right tho, the pip boy is broken. Sometimes it says a different number everytime i look at it lol. Sometimes it says i have 0 ppl at a certain settlement, i will fast travel there...and bam, 25 ppl all happy. I dont use pip boy. I use old fashion pen and paper now to keep track o fmy settlement numbers.

Hey hey, i was level 103 when i started this build. You can watch my live stream Part 1 for proof, where i started the build from scratch, that i already had 62 settlers there BEFORE i started the build, when it was just a rundown shanty.

Beyond impressive. The time to build it, patience in doing so, creativity involved, and the sheer amount of materials used are off the charts. Well done. I will now go back to building my shanty towns with aspirations of bigger and better things ahead.

From Youtube comment: I noticed a lot of people mentioning the max settlement size was 10+charisma and that the only way to get higher charisma was to use X-cell, alcohol, graqe mentats and day tripper as well as wear charisma clothing and then send settlers to your main settlement.

So I was curious how you managed it. I have been using the settlement beacon, but the maximum I have been able to achieve is 10+charisma as others have stated.

I'm not saying I'm not impressed, it looks amazing but there's a maximum build capacity and you cannot build something that large without reaching it.

So whether you built it ir not; congrats on the structure but saying you didn't cheat would be a lie.

Check out my big explanation post on the first page of this thread. I have 11 charisma and dont enhance it with drugs or clothes.

Thanks! Yup, i hit the build limit 3 or 4 times on ps4 while building. to bypass that, i just simply drop weapons on the ground, go into build mode, highlight them and store them in the work bench. That will lower the size limit bar back down into the green and keep building. You can watch me do this during the live steam video, but today i will actually make a how to ideo on it as lots of ppl are requesting it.

p.s. I never cheated or glitched or exploited or modded or whatever, in anyway, to get 62 settlers (actually 65) at this location. They were there before i did the build on their own.

Hope this answers your questions.

I'm sure he meant using a modded console, commands, etc.

There are a lot of glitches in this game that allow certain things, which I won't detail considering it's against forum rules. It is possible to circumvent, but Bethesda put that limit in for a reason I'm sure.

I'm not sure if I understand how all this works, but from reading the fallout Wiki it says you can have 10 settlers plus 1 for each level of Charisma and another one for finding the right bobblehead totalling 21. You can have more by wearing items and using chems that increase your Charisma, but it doesn't say what the absolute maximum is.

I have more settlers than my Charisma allows for and I'm not wearing anything to give me a boost nor do I use chems at all. In some settlements I have 19 Settlers and I only have 7 Charisma. I'm at Level 43, but I don't know if that increases your capacity.

All I can say is, even if he did cheat, it's still pretty impressive that Fallout 4 can handle all that, especially on a PS4.

This is awesome and really good to know about the building size exploit. Just goes to show what is capable with even the vanilla game. Will be really interesting to see what modders make of the system. You've definitly inspired me to try something more ambitious than my sky fortress haha
